The snow blanketed the cottage and settled over the ice on the lake, She stood t the edge of the woods looking at the light coming through the window and the people inside She couldn't decide if she could go in. How would they react? She hadn't seen them in years. And now looking at her family happily chatting around the Christmas, she slowly walked closer to the house. The snow started getting heavier as she approached the door. She stood there for a minute debating again. She knocked. She heard rustling behind the door. Tears came to her eyes as her mom opened the door. 5 years. It had been 5 years since she saw her mom. But it would still be many more until her mom saw her. Her mom looked right through her, she even peaked her head through the door to look around. She tried to say something but it felt like she couldn't breathe anymore. She reached out to her mom but something unseen pulled her back towards the lake. Her mom turned back into the house and tears fell down her face; just wanting to be with her mom. Her body became limp as her oxygen was cut off by the water filling up her car. She yelled but no one could hear her through the thick sheet of ice that concealed her and her car in the lake. As her family backed cookies without a clue that their daughter, friend, sister, was slowly turning blue. The slick snow covering the road, the last bend around the lake, she had lost control. That fateful moment sent her car plummeting to the bottom of the lake.
