Chapter One

I was at home packing up my things. I had called the number that the nurse gave me and got the job. Apparently I was an in-house maid, meaning I had to live in the house that I would clean. I was apparently working with someone famous as well. I didn’t know who it was though, they didn’t tell me; like I would know even if they did tell me. Like I said, I haven’t really paid attention to the media since my mom was diagnosed with cancer.  I took all my family pictures and put them in few scrapbooks. Most consisted of me and my mom since, you know, my dad died when I was younger. As I looked through the pictures I started to tear up.

I put away all the scrapbooks in the box that contained my family memories. The box consisted of a charm bracelet my mom gave me, a locket my mom gave me, a bracelet my dad gave me before he died, and the scrapbooks. I already had my room and everything I need packed up so I had one last look through the house I had grown up in. I had a feeling of bravery in me and decided to go into my mom’s old room. I was leaving all the furniture behind and a company was going to come get it and take it away tomorrow, after I left. I looked on my mom’s dresser and saw a note. I picked it up and started to read the words written across the page.

 Dear Fall,

If you’re reading this, it means I have passed. I’m sorry that I had to leave; I guess it was my time to go. Just know that I am always watching over you. Fall, keep moving forward in life. Play the piano again, play the guitar again, please, do it, for me. I want you to fly in life, to soar, to be who you want to be and to find love. I’m leaving you a gift; wear it to remember me, and to never forget to soar high in life.

                                Love,

                                   You’re Guardian Angel.

I looked where the letter had been a necklace with a single bird on it. It was beautiful. I grabbed it and slipped it around my neck.

When everything was packed, I put the boxes in my car. I locked the door to my house and put the keys under the mat, so the furniture people could get in tomorrow. I then got in my car and drove towards the address my boss had told me over the phone.

When I arrived at the house I gasped. It was huge. Whatever famous person owns this house must be pretty freaking rich because their house is huge. I walked up to the front door and knocked. I heard footsteps coming towards the door. The door opened to reveal a boy who looked my age.

“Hi, I’m your new maid,” I greeted holding my hand out for the boy to shake.

He rudely declined and just spat,” I’m Louis Tomlinson from One Direction, but you probably already knew that.”

I had heard of One Direction, I mean they have billboards with their faces plastered on them all over London, but I honestly didn’t know who was in One Direction.

“I’m Fall Winters and sorry, but I didn’t know that,” I whispered the last part.

“Well, you don’t get out much I see,” Louis responded rudely.

“No, it’s just, I never really paid much attention to the media,” I answered.

“Oh well, your rooms up in the attic. Just take the stairs to the top floor,” He informed me before sitting down on the couch and turning on the TV. I sighed and turned around to get my boxes. I had about 5 medium sized boxes.

 Some help would be nice.

I grabbed two of the boxes and headed up three flights of stairs. “I have to do this,” I thought, “for my mom and for the money.” I dropped the boxes off by the door and went to get the other three. I struggled up the stairs but eventually made it with the three heavy boxes from my car. I opened the door and looked inside. It was a big room, but it was really cold and the floor was dirty. There was newish looking furniture though. There was a bed, a nightstand, a desk, and a window that let the light flow in from outside just perfectly. I looked in the corner of the room and saw an old guitar. I smiled at the sight of it.

I found a broom and began to sweep the floor. When I finished sweeping I started to unpack. It took me about 5 hours, but I eventually unpacked all of my things. While unpacking, I found a nice little bathroom connected to the attic, thank God.

I put all of my family things in a drawer. I guess this would have to do. I looked down at the charm dangling from a chain around my neck. Just keep soaring.
