James was born in the year 2077 in Vault 87. He was used to life in the vault having lived in it for 16 years. There were only 100 other people in the Vault. It was usually peaceful except for when the vault gang the Wolf pack got a little rowdy at the poker tables. The only way to leave the vault was escape but that wasn't very smart because the overseer had securitrons blocking the entrance of the vault. Little did James know he would be escaping the vault soon enough. "James wake up!" said Ashley shaking James.
"W-what?" asked James still groggy from just waking up wishing he could go back to sleep. "Your father he's gone he left the vault!! My father is looking for him and you have to leave now!!" James jumped up trying to take everything in. "How do I get out? He asked panicking. "You're going to have too escape through my father's office, your dad gave me this note before he left." The note said Dear James, I'm sorry I have to leave I have things to do. I suppose you'll follow me even if I tell you not to. Go to megaton you'll learn more there. Love, Dad. After James read the letter Ashley handed him a key to her father's office. "Here take this it will help" she said. James started for the overseer's office the guards standing outside the door were drunk so it was easy for James to persuade them to let him in. As soon as he was in the overseers office he slid the key card and a hidden door under the overseers desk. James walked through the door and saw the securitrons and decided he would have to take them out. He deactivated the first one then found a pistol on the floor and shot the other robot. "I'll keep this' he said talking to himself. He hit the button to open the vault door and the vault door opened making a creaking noise. He looked out into The capitol wasteland for the first time there werent many trees like it showed in the books he read. It was barren scarred by The Great War nuclear bombs dropped by an unnececesary war between America and China. The lucky people got to go in vaults where it was safe lucky for James his ancestors got into the vault before the bombs got to washington. All the water was radiated now and alot of the animals had been mutated into abominations from the radiation. James saw a dog walking around and whistled for it he hoped it wasnt rabid or whistling would have been a mistake. Luckily for him the dog was friendly James searched it for a collar not finding one decided to name the dog himself."I'll name you Max,do you like that boy?". The dog licked his hand as if to say yes. "I guess we need to find food." He saw some Lakelurks by the water he shot them both quickly and started a fire to cook the meat. As the meat was roasting James checked the pistol to see how many bullets he had left. He only had two left and he figured he would need more so he decided to look for some after he ate. He ate his share of the Lakelurk and gave Max some. He searched in the trashcans and found a sleeping bag wrapped in plastic so it was clean and a hunting rifle that had a decent amount of ammo in it. He put out the fire to not get unwanted attention. He rolled out the sleeping bag and decided tommorow he and max would start for Megaton. He let Max curl up in the sleeping bag and went to sleep looking at the first stars he'd ever seen. He wasn't asleep long when he heard rustling Max was still asleep. He looked over the sleeping bag and saw raiders they were druggies who wanted nothing more than a fix and cash or bottle caps that was the currency in the wasteland. James didnt think he could take he raiders on with just his rifle becuase they had laser rifles and pistols. James just went back to sleep and when he woke up they were gone. It was early morning and james decided to go find megaton and get some answers. He took out his Pip-boy 2000 and looked at the map he figured out it wasnt very close so he would have to walk awhile since the nukes destroyed all the cars. He woke Max up and they ate a breakfast of lakelurk then started off towards megaton. Soon he found himself in front of a big metal door with a poorly painted sign with megaton painted on it. Outside of megaton there was a robot sheriff named Sherriff Steven. James walked into megaton wondering where to start. He decided to start in the bar surely someone there would know something. As James was walking to the bar he saw an atomic bomb surrounded by people syaing things like praise atom and atom will save us. James ignored them and just walked in the bar looking for someone who might know his dad. He saw a guy with a badge and figured it must be the sherriff he went up to him and showed him a picture of his dad. "Do you know him?" James asked. The sherriff said "Yes how do you know him?" "Im his son." James replied "Do you know where to find him?" "He said something about going to D.C.' said the sherriff. And with that information James left for D.C taking Max with him. He wondered if D.C had more vegetation than this. He hoped so he wanted to see trees and shrubs.All he knew about D.C was it was an important place before The great war. People would come from different states just to see the sights.
