"Can I borrow a calculator" Brent whispers
I nod sliding my calculator over. X equals zero?!?! Is that even possible? I groan reaching for my calculator, brushing hands with Brent.
"Sorry" we both mumble. What the hell? What are we? Little romance buddies? No. We are friends.
"Wanna go somewhere after school?" He whispers
"Where?"
"You'll see" he winks writing down x equals zero. Haha! I knew that was the answer.
-
"Where are we going?" I whine as Brent drives further out of town.
"Away. I just thought after all the drama you'd want a break"
"You're not kidnapping me are you?" I laugh
"'Course not" he smiles.
He parks in a little spot and we get out of the car.
"Where are we?" I ask
"Baseball stadium" he states.
"Dude!" I laugh.
"My mom said your parents flight was cancelled due to tornados in the area. I just wanted to treat you."
He take my hand, but this time I don't pull away. I just let it happen. We turn the corner and lights flash up all around.
"I love it when you're eyes light up" he chuckles.
I take in all the sights. Big flashing lights, moving pictures everywhere and a jumbotron right in the center. Oh god. They are doing a kiss cam.
"Well this is odd" I mumble watching people kiss. I swear... This boy did it on purpose. I drop his hand and walk around outside the shops.
"The hotdogs are the best" he smiles.
"Of course!." I confirm. We both get hotdogs and walk around. By the time we get to our seats to watch the game our food was already finished. All of a sudden guys with cameras on their shoulders swarm us.
"Kiss cam" they all chatter. I was about to tell them off gently when Brent grabs me by the hips and kisses me, long and passionately.
-
The next morning we start our ride home. He was insane bringing us out here but it was kind nice too.
"Third time we kissed. Are we still not gonna talk about it?" He smirks
"Nope" I laugh turning up the radio so the music plays louder. I smile and start singing along
I I love you like a love song baby, I I love you like a love song baby
I blush realizing that Brent was smiling at me.
"I like your voice" he smiles
"Shut up" I tease.

On Wednesday I visit Nika in the hospital, she's still in a coma but I sit by her side for an hour and a half.
"I really like Mrs. Rivera" my mom smiles as we all sit around the dinner table eating turkey breast. I shiver as the May breeze flows in through the open window. "She works third shift at the hospital"
"Oh really?" I pretend to act interested.
"Yeah, I was thinking about doing that too." My mom sighs "I need to go work more, I miss helping people"
"It's a great idea sweetie" my dad says grabbing her hand.
"We don't feel comfortable leaving you alone though" mom says
