Most of Eliza's pregnancies were tough on her. She usually got extremely sick and always stressed, which wasn't good for the baby. So Alexander would do everything in his power to make her pregnancies less painful and stressful for her. From little things like massages and cooking dinner to buying her presents and showering her with his love.
Eliza also suffered terrible mood swings. Like one day she could start having a breakdown cause she saw a wild baby kitten and she just wanted to keep it. she could also be very mean the next day, but Alexander is very patient with her.
Also this isn't a head-cannon, it's a fact. Alexander quit his job to spend more time with his family after Eliza suffered a miscarriage.
