The Beginning

The multicolour lights and fast-moving mechanic games painted this small town's scenery. People's laughter and chit chatter as well as some vendors inviting yells almost drowned the carnival's jolly music. If an outsider were to look at such a scene, he or she would probably assume there is no better and happiest place to be rather than that little village near Manchester City. Maybe throughout the families and small groups of teenagers you will find a fair share amount of people whose only bitter memory was a burnt roast dinner or the rejection of a lover. However, for most of the people that made up the attendance of this happy looking festival there lingered the hope of forgetting and escaping the horrible side effects the war brought with it, and amongst these persons there it was a group of four young lads that felt more than ready to conquer the world.

"I can't believe you managed to score a date with Emily Taylor. Was she drunk when you asked her?" the older one said as he jokingly shoved his now boiling red faced, brown and kind eyed friend. At this remark, the four of them laughed.

"Come on, Louis. Don't be such a prick. After all, baby Liam here finally found the balls he was missing and talked to her," the curly green-eyed boy said just as he ruffled Liam's perfectly styled hair. A few people turned around and look at them at the sudden explosive laugh of the other blue-eyed lad. Liam, a bit annoyed but still not removing that big blushing smile of his face, arranged his now messy hair back to its original state.

"Piss off. At least, I won't be alone anymore. Which is more of what I can say for you twats," Liam said. Louis suddenly jumped in front of him with both his hands on his chest.

"Ouch, Liam. I thought you and I's relationship was something serious," Louis said.

"I think that excludes Harry, though. We all know he's all but alone, aren't you, Harry?" the blue-eyed brunette said whilst shoving his elbow in the curlly's stomach.

"Shut up, Niall," Harry simply said.

They all laughed and continued their stroll through the town's fair. Nothing could bother their unworried minds. This night after all was the escape everyone very much needed.

Suddenly, between jokes and more details about Liam's so waited date, a young girl ran over Harry making both of them to almost loose balance and consequently held tight each other for support.

"I'm sorry," the girl said in between breathes. Her hair was styled in a perfect curly ponytail and her wild purple eyes danced all over the place as if she was checking if she was still being followed.

Harry, on the other hand, didn't lose a chance to take a good look at the girl which he now held securely in his uniformed arms. A grey skirt hung loose, tightly secured around her small waist by a brown belt. Tucked in was a baby pink sweater and a pink bow adorned her ponytail. He then looked at her face. It was very lovely, he thought. She still didn't look at him. Her eyes keep wondering around the place. Maybe, he was hoping to finally make eye contact with her. Maybe that's why he hadn't let go, and then the girl finally looked at him. Harry gave her a small smile, and he saw her face slowly turning a few shades of pink. Harry heard a clear of throat and as one would break a spell, the trance was gone. He realised his 3 best mates were looking at him like if they were about to burst out laughing. Harry immediately let go of the girl and cleared his throat as well.

"No worries. I'm Harry," Harry said.

A smile took over her worried soft features, replacing it with joy and relief. She suddenly took a step forward whilst both her hands were clutched together in front of her chest.

"Oh my god, it's you... I finally found you," she said.

Harry was confused beyond belief. Who was this girl? She certainly did know him, but he was sure he hadn't seen her before. The girls smile wavered a bit, maybe realising how weird she was coming off as. She took a step back and smile at all of Harry's friends before looking at him again.

"Sorry—I, uhm... I'm Violet," she said.

"Right... Uhm, well it was a pleasure, Violet, but I think we should be going. Right lads?" Harry said.

He was scared and weirded out. She probably was a stalker. Harry had dealt with girls like that before, and one thing was certain: it was not fun at all.

"Right, of course," Liam said immediately.

"Let's go, Niall," Louis said tugging him by the shirt. He seemed rather hypnotised with the weird girl.

"Bye," Harry said, whilst he and the rest of his mates started to walk away. All of a sudden, he felt a pair of hands take his.

"No!" Violet said. Harry was getting annoyed. Can't this girl take a hint that he, at least, wasn't interested? He turned around to tell her off when his green orbs landed on her purple ones. Suddenly, all his anger was gone, and his senses felt a bit clouded. His attention couldn't focus on anything that wasn't her. The need to go faded away, and Harry only wanted to be alone with her. Violet swiftly released Harry's hand from her grasp and backed away a bit. Harry's mind, however, was screaming for him to get closer to her, to not let her go.

"I mean, would you mind if I join you for the rest of the night? A weird guy was chasing me, and I'm afraid to be left alone if he finds me," Violet said.

Harry was sure he was smiling like a stupid at her, but he couldn't help it. What was going on with him?

"Harry, mate, I don't think it's such a good idea. Let's just call the police and have them drive her home," Louis said.

Harry didn't care what Louis had said. He was too infatuated with Violet. Violet. What a beautiful name, he thought. She was like an angel, his angel. The one he'd be looking for. Seriously, what was going on with him?

"Of course. Do you want me to walk you home?" Harry's mouth said before he could really think of what he was getting himself into.

"Harry," Liam said.

"That would be lovely, Mister..." Violet said.

"Styles," he said.

"Harry, what the hell is wrong with you?" Louis said.

Liam and Louis looked beyond worried. Walking off with a weird stranger was not something Harry would do. Sure, he was a flirt, but he wasn't stupid.

"It's okay, Louis. I don't bite," Violet said giving them a sweet smile and a wink.

Harry ignored them and offered his arm for Violet to hold. She enthusiastically accepted, and the couple walked off leaving the rest of the boys behind.

Harry felt strange. A mix of anxiety but happiness invaded him. He was over the moon to be walking off with the girl he was sure was the one, yet he felt a pang of fear running through his back. Something was wrong with all this. Nevertheless, there was nothing he could do about it.
