The world they lived in was much like any other, everything was science-based and technology was commonly relied on. However, one little detail distinguished it from the rest -- the clocks. The phosphorescent green numbers were just like magic, branded onto your wrist the second you were brought into the world.

In other worlds, finding a predestined 'soulmate' would be very much impossible. In this world, however, you literally had a clock on your non-dominant wrist counting down to the second you would meet your significant other.

The sky was an azure blue as the afternoon sun shone brightly - but not harshly - down onto the land below. A male who looked to be in his early twenties strolled down the path with his hands in his pockets and earphones blocking out the world. Humming in tune with his music, he sat down on an empty park bench and plopped his backpack down beside him. Carelessly, the male began pouring out the contents on the bench beside him. If anyone were to pass by at that moment, they would be able to sneak a glance at the blond's ID card, printed with his personal particulars. He finally found what he was looking for - his water bottle. He twisted the cap and took it off, bringing the opening of the bottle to his mouth and taking a few sips.

The young man rolled up his sleeve to peer at the ever changing green numbers located on his skin, grimacing when he saw that the numbers were almost down to zero. Narrowing his eyes ever so slightly, he pulled his sleeve back down, casting a glance to his gloomy grey sky and gathered his things from the bench beside him. Once the light-blond had finished stuffing everything into his backpack, he slung one strap over his shoulder and stood up, just beginning to walk off.

He was going to meet his soulmate the very next day and he would do anything to keep that from happening.
