*** This is a found poem containing lines from Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand
Beneath the hush was a humming underground of defiance
Still alive
Triumph in the subversion
Little comfort
In the cyclone of misery
Little calmness
Defiance took a life of its own
A struggle to defy
To keep an identity alive
Each small declaration of self mattered a great deal
To bear witness
To Leave a testament to what we had endured
