Skye

I flinched away from the loud voices that greeted us as we walked through the doors of the meeting room. All of the alphas and betas from the packs of the forest were arguing about how to proceed, the shouting continued as I followed Kelly to the same seats we had taken last time.

I sighed with relief at the sight of some of my old friends: Laura, Terry, and Woody. The others I knew but wasn't as close with. I sat down next to Kelly while Holly walked away to sit next to Woody. The others who had come with me stood awkwardly behind us as, finally, some of the leaders began to quiet down.

Laura grinned at me. "Welcome back, Skye. And I see you brought some friends with you. Taylor, would you mind bringing out some extra chairs for our new guests?"

Taylor nodded at her alpha. "Of course, Laura." She left the room, nodding to me slightly as she passed. When she returned she had an extra four chairs and another werewolf following her closely held another four chairs. They placed them next to River and the others before Taylor silently dismissed the young werewolf with a nod. He dipped his head respectfully and scurried from the room.

Laura stood up to begin the meeting. "To begin, let us warmly welcome back Skye. Now that she has returned to us we can begin forming a plan to-"

Nathan stood up, interrupting Laura, whose mouth had dropped open in shock,  mid-sentence. "I'm sorry, Laura, but how can we be sure that we can trust her? Skye was gone for months doing undercover work, she finally returns but she brings rogues with her?! How do we know we can trust her?" He sat down having said his piece.

I clenched my fists under the table and clenched my jaw tight. How dare he accuse me of being a traitor?! I looked to Laura for permission to rise and when she nodded slightly at me I stood. "I understand your concerns," I said calmly. "But I trust these rogues with my life. I was deep undercover, you're right, but when Gregory, the rogue werecat leader, blew my cover these eight helped me to escape and return to you. They have each proven, more than once, that they are loyal to our ideals and beliefs."

"You allied yourself with rogues," Nathan growled lightly. "The same rogues that attacked the Pine Tree Pack and drove away its leaders," he stalked closer to me and looked me dead in the eye. "You are no alpha."

My knees shook and I had to take a step back in shock. I wasn't the only one, I could hear shocked gasps ringing throughout the room at his declaration. I cleared my throat, worried that my voice wouldn't work, but it came out clear and strong. "I am truly sorry that you believe that." I looked at him and took a step closer. "But I would never betray my clan, or my friends. And I promise you, one day I will prove to you that my loyalties never strayed." Finished, I sat down, trying desperately to hide that I was shaking with rage.

Glancing towards Kelly I realized that she was having the same problem. The only thing that had been keeping her in her seat during that speech had been Gwen's reassuring hand on her shoulder. Nathan snorted and walked back to his seat, flinging himself down into it rather sulkily.

Laura coughed to clear her throat before speaking again as if nothing had happened at all. "We need to make a plan. Skye, is there any information from the rogues that you and your friends were able to gather that could help us to prepare?"

I nodded. "Unfortunately, my cover was blown before I was able to get any truly important information relating to the battle," I ignored Nathan's annoyed noise and continued on. "As Kelly and Holly may have told you, the rogue alpha named me as his beta, this gave me better access to his plans then I may have had otherwise although he still shared little information with me. I can say for sure that they plan to attack soon, the alpha was having me organize more and more battle training patrols each day and with the events of earlier today he will push his attack ahead although I do not believe he will attack before the rogue werecats are ready. It seems that the leader of the rogue werecats is the true mastermind behind everything that has happened.

"He was ordering the rogue alpha around in front of the rest of the rogues and the rogue alpha was simply allowing it, not arguing with him. It is very important that we start training all together as well. The training sessions that I watched rather than supervised included the rogue alpha teaching some of his pack members the death blow. He is cruel and has little sympathy for life, as long as he proves he is powerful he will be content."

There were faint gasps throughout my summary. And some of the other alphas looked a little worried.

"There are many rogues in the werewolf pack alone, if there are anywhere near as many as the same number in the werecat clan then we will be evenly matched if all of the packs stand together." I told them softly.

Laura smiled at me slightly. "Thank you Skye. We appreciate the risk that you took in getting us this information."

"You haven't told us why you left before finding out more information." Nathan pointed out.

I dipped my head slightly to him. "You're right, I haven't. When we returned from patrol today Gregory was addressing the rogue pack. He told the rogue alpha who I really was. When he learned my identity the rogue alpha attacked me, alongside Gregory. I managed to get free of their grasp and fled the camp. I was pursued by angry pack members, but with the help of my new friends was able to fend them off. They retreated and we came back here as quickly as we could."

"Alright." Nathan said simply.

I wanted to roll my eyes but didn't want to start a fight. Instead I simply listened as Laura and the other alphas began discussing our next move, occasionally offering my own opinions, which were often agreed with. Mostly just by Woody, Laura, and Terry though. The betas weren't really speaking much, only occasionally putting forward their ideas. Though Holly, and surprisingly sometimes Eddy, looked at me as if they felt sorry.

They shouldn't feel bad. I thought bitterly. Nathan can hate me all he likes. I don't care how much he doubts me, I will prove to him that I have what it takes to be a good alpha.
