The Colony

     The next morning I knew I was in trouble. I could barely move. I had no energy. I had to go I had no choice now. Something was really wrong. I made it to the water hoping that would help. I stayed there till I heard talking, I knew I was in trouble. I got out of the water and headed for the road. I voices were behind the bushes so I had a few minutes head start. As I got to the road I heard a car coming up behind me. I was scared to death when I turned to see who it was. I started crying it was the purple truck I had been watching for the last few months. I flagged it down, Luckly he stopped for me. I told him I was trying to get to the village to see Marcus and Kara. I figured it was better to give both names if he was from there he had to know at least one of them. He gave me a strange look but told me to get in.

     As we went up the road he kept glancing at me. Finally he asked, " Are you alright?" I looked at him and said, " To be honest no! I feel like hell. I thought I was just dehydrated now I'm not so sure." When we stopped at a gate he pulled out his phone and made a call. " Listen I have a young lady here looking for Marcus and Kara. She doesn't look to good. I don't want to leave her here there is a truck starting up the road. What should I do?" After a minute he hung up the phone and we headed further up the mountain. He turned right up a little path I didn't even see. The trees were so close together that if I had the energy I could have reached out and touch them. We drove for ten minutes till we came to another gate. There was a car waiting on the other side. He opened my door and helped me to the other car and said, "Sorry I don't know your name."" Its Megan, Sorry."" Don't be sorry. Megan meet Kara. Kara this is Megan." I smiled as she helped me in to the car. She turned to the man and said, "I called Marcus, he's waiting for you. Watch that truck they are the people after her. We need to get her stuff brought home after we get her settled. No it might be better to get her stuff now. I don't want them figuring out where she might be. Marcus has keys to her car so get it back here. Okay, thank you so much. See you later."

     As he drove back the way we came, we drove through a small town. It looked old fashioned. I just didn't have the energy to pay attention. It took us about five minutes to get to her house. She helped me out of the car. As we started to cross the little foot bridge over the river I asked, " Can I just sit in the water a minute please it really will help me."" Are you sure?"" Yes I'll feel better in a minute."" Lets do this. You look like your going to pass out, come over here and lay down."" What?" She took me over to the bank nearest to her house and opened a lid of all things. I thought I was great a bed in the water. I looked at her and said, Yes please." She helped me in then grabbed a chair and pulled over next to me and sat down. Then she started talking.

     " So you have been in hiding foe eight months now. How long have you felt like this?"" Just the last month."" And how long ago were you and Marcus together?"" The first time was about a month and a half ago. Then again a week and a half ago. Why? I can't believe he told you."" I'm his mother honey. He didn't tell me that, he just told me he bonded with you. I know how it works."" Okay sorry I don't understand."" That's okay we will explain more later. But when our people bond it usually means sex is involved."" Oh my god so what are you thinking is wrong?"" I know Marcus said you were well prepared but did you have condoms?"" No why?"" Honey you must really feel bad if you don't get it."" Sorry I am really tired and I feel dehydrated."" Megan your pregnant!"" What but...."" What your feeling is a side affect. Does Marcus know?"" I didn't even know. I just thought I was dehydrated its hot and I normally spend a lot of time in the water at the beach."" So this is the first summer you have spent out of the water interesting."" In sorry I don't get it."" Why don't you rest till Marcus gets home we will talk about it then. Also I think I should get one of our doctors over here to look at you."" Is that wise I don't think I should be here."" Don't worry I will also talk to our leader."" Your what?"" He's like our mayor with more power."" Oh great, okay do what you have to. Can I have something to drink?"" Yes of course I'll be right back."

     She brings me out a glass of juice that really does help my stomach and gives me a little more energy. I drink it and fall asleep. She closes the lid so I don't get sun burnt then went inside to make a few calls and wait.
