Chapter Three- Flash backs
Mum misses you.
HA! Mum misses you! I would be more likely to believe that she had married Jesus Christ
I miss her- NO I don’t! Think! Remember! NO!
The door slammed, dad was home. No, it was mum she pushed me into a wall
“HOW DARE YOU!” She screeched.
I heard Janie come out and scream. Emma yelled
“MUM, STOP IT!”
Luke walked in disturbing my thoughts. I didn’t mind, because I was crying again. I needed his gentle touch, his calm voice, and his supportive friendship. He hugged me, squeezed me and soon I was laughing again, laughing so much it hurt. Luke cleaned up my face, redid my normal makeup and made me some lunch.
“Mhm, my favourite Peanut Butter with butter and orange juice.” I whispered. I had another flash back, this time without tears.
“Mum, I don’t like ham.” 8 year old me said.
“I know dear but we have run out of Nutella.” Mum replied coming to sit beside me and putting one of her arms around me.
“Can I have YOUR sandwich.”
“But you won’t like it.”
“It will be better than this” I spat, holding the sandwich at arm’s length.
“Alright, here you go.”
“It’s been years.” I said even quieter than before. Luke put his arm around me just like mum had, years ago.
“Be brave, and smile,” He prodded my cheeks until I giggled “I love you, so does your family… or some of them I gather. Janie does, Emma does. Go home with your head held high, knowing you are stronger than when you left.”
“If anything I am weaker, plus you don’t know what I did- don’t ask either.”
“Come on, let’s go for a swim then watch a movie, yes?”
I agreed, so off we went to go get dressed for a swim.
