"You're worthless!"
"No one loves you!"
"Stay away, you monster!"
Please...Minho thought. Just leave me alone. The voices in his head seemed to get louder and louder. The constant reminder that he's not normal, that he's a monster. Minho clutches his head in his hands as tears roll down his cheeks. They sky turns dark and heavy rain pours down. Minho could get sick and not recover for all he cares. No one does.
Minho suddenly feels the rain stopping above him. He could hear raindrops falling but he doesn't feel it. He looks up to see someone, a girl, holding an umbrella over him.
"You shouldn't stay in the rain, you'll get sick."
Minho smiles a little. It was as if his prayers were heard. Someone cared. But he just had to mess it up.
"Why do you even care. I don't want to be pitied by someone."
"Because I do care. I genuinely do."
Minho only stares at the girl in confusion as she speaks. "Come on, we can go to my work place." She said as she takes Minho's hand and pulls him somewhere. He was baffled at the move the girl made. She held his hand even when he's a complete stranger to her. Something in him made him feel weird and confused at the same time. Never in his life had someone hold his hand so tightly like the girl is right this moment. They pass a couple of blocks before stopping at a huge, white building. He looks up to see the words on them.
'HOPES AND DREAMS GENERAL HOSPITAL'
Hopes and dreams... those words seemed so foreign to Minho as he enters the building with the girl. She shakes off the water on her umbrella before putting it on the umbrella stand. "Come, we'll get you warmed up in my office." Minho hadn't even realized he was shivering and the hospital's air conditioning doesn't help. They walk through a crowd and the girl still held his hand all the way to the elevator. They got on and left on the 9th floor.
They walk in a few halls before stopping at a door with a plaque that says 'Doc. Jung Eui Yong'. At least he knows her name now. She opens the door and pulls him in before sitting him on a sky blue sofa. The warm seat made Minho feel a lot better and she wrapped a blanket around him. "Sorry if I surprised you. I'm Eui Yong, a doctor here. I just can't leave someone hanging out in the rain looking down and all. Here, have some hot chocolate." She hands him a warm mug filled with hot chocolate and Minho takes a sip. The warmth engulfed him and he quietly takes another sip. "I'm... Minho," "So, if you don't mind me asking, what were you doing out there?"
Minho contemplates a little on telling her but he does anyway. "I ran away from my home..." He said in a small voice. "What? Why would you?" She was surprised at his answer and got a lot more worried. "Because they hate me! My family hates me, alright? Stop butting your nose in someone else's business!" He stood up, causing the blanket on his shoulder to fall. Once he realized what he had did, he sat back down with his head lowered. Euiyong quietly places the blanket back on his shoulder before he continues to talk. "I was diagnosed with Bipolar II when I was 18. They took me to a hospital but couldn't get a treatment because it was so pricey. They took me home and I was starting to get a bit aggressive.
"One day, when I got home, I suddenly felt angry at everyone." A tear escapes Minho's eyes but he never stopped talking and continues. "My sister asked me if something was wrong and I yelled at her. I yelled at her for being a stupid sister and pushed her. She fell and hit the living room sofa's armrest. At first, she wasn't moving but then her head started to bleed. I realized what I have done and my parents were already calling the ambulance. My mother cradled my sister in her arms and told me I was a monster, I'm not normal." His tear now turns into quiet sobs as he continues his story. "She survived, but she's not the same anymore. She hates me, despises me, even my parents do. I knew I messed up badly and I knew it was my fault. I had decided to run away once I turn 20 and leave them alone. I didn't want to hurt them anymore."
Minho cried harder as he remembers those moments that made him hate himself. But he suddenly changes and wiped his tears. "Why the hell am I telling you this? What's the point in telling you?! You can't even do anything!" In a blink of an eye, his hands are now wrapped around Euiyong's neck and his eyes seemed to flare up. The colour in her face drained as his grip got tighter. Suddenly, he was held back by two people he didn't know. His eyes were filled with rage and he could see a few people talking to Euiyong.
"It's fine, guys. I'm alright." She stood up and went near Minho who was still being held back. "Minho, can you hear me? If you can, take a deep breath and calm down." Minho tries to and his short and shallow breaths soon become a lot more stable and he finally came back to his senses. "Chan, Felix, you can let him go now." She calmly says. Minho's head lowers again and more tears roll down his cheeks. "I'm sorry..." He managed to choke out. "I'm a monster after all..." Euiyong stayed quiet as she hugs Minho tightly. "Shh, it's alright. You're not a monster, you're just different. Cry it out, you'll feel better once you let it out." He did. Because it was all he could do.
