"Well, you've seen the town," Mirk begins, strutting around the kitchen. "Lonely, empty and sad."

Audrey throws her hands onto the table and jumps up, Lola in her arms, "you have your powers, just magic someone in. Why do you need us to do your dirty work, picking up dead animals."

He snaps quickly, "on the contrary, Miss Smith, I am not making you do my dirty work for the fun of it. I'm taking a peek at your personality to see whether the inside beauty matches the outside." He pauses for breath, "yes, I could have cleaned the town with a click of my fingers but what you did was better, you buried those animals with compassion and you cried at their funerals."

"I don't want to hear anymore," Fate speaks up and Mirk nods at her.

"Would like to hear the quest?" They all remain silent and he takes this a yes.

"This town is lonely, empty and sad. Living beings are what makes towns thrive, full and happy." Mirk looks at each and every one of them to see how they're taking the information.

"You want us to repopulate your town," Fate gasps and looks down at her stomach.

"Fate and I are fine but Audrey may need to activate her love life," Silas jokes.

Audrey throws a dirty look at him, "you little," Silas cuts her off.

"There ain't nothing little about me," he raises his eyebrows.

"You wish," Audrey snorts.

"No, you will not be procreating, Audrey you'll find someone someday," he breaks into their conversation. "you'll be using a very well known method used by humanity all throughout Ciano's history."

"The wolf trick," Silas gasps and Audrey cuddles Lola closer to her.

"Correct," Mirk tells him. The couple seems happy with the answer. Audrey feels light-headed and confused.

"What's the wolf trick?" She sneezes incredibly loudly.

"Everywhere wolves go, other animals follow. Where ever vulnerable animals go, us humans follow so we can protect them. That is how most of our towns were formed." Silas explains.

"How are we going to find more wolves, they ditched Lola and are probably hiding from us in the woods," Audrey asks.

"They most likely didn't ditch Lola, just lost her and when they hear her howl then they will come running. You have to choose how you bring them to the town." Mirk tells them and Audrey strokes the whining Lola in her arms.

They all fall into a comfortable silence, Audrey still processing what she had just been told. The only sounds in the room being the last of the water flowing down the drain and the distant noises of the animals around the house. Rather suddenly, Audrey swears she can hear the beating of large wings. By the looks on the other three's faces, she knows they can hear it too.

A large crack sounds around the room, they all whirl around to check out the noise. Mirk's biggest window is completely shattered and lying on the floor is the large bird that visited Audrey on her second day in Ciano. The one that delivered the letter.

This bird has a letter and no one needs to go and pick it up, they can see the horrifying words from where their standing.

"We're here,

Meona and Darwan."

They all stand in silence, unsure for a moment with what they're going to do, they have no time to worry. The door is knocked on by a loud clear hand and Fate pulls both Audrey and Silas up the stairs, shutting them all in their guest bedroom. They wait as they hear Mirk rush to answer it.
