*beep beep beep beep*. 'Ten more minutes' I said groaning into my empty room, like my alarm clock would understand and shut up. After a few more seconds of the beeping drilling in my ear I finally sat up and turned it off. Rubbing my eyes I looked up to the ceiling wishing this day didn't have to happen. It was nerve racking as it was to go to a new school but it was even worse coming from a different country and not knowing anyone at all. I got up and put on my rock/jewel that was attached to a black string that was supposed to help me find the love of my life. I rolled my eyes thinking about it. Everyone was obsessed with them, so attached to them and dreaming about the love of their life. It made me sick, honestly it was so unlikely to actually find the love of your life and most people by the age of thrifty five would eventually take the hint they wouldn't find their soul mate and settle for someone else. I remembered back to when everyone in my small town got so exited when two people did actually find their soul mates. Yeah I was happy for the two of them but didn't people realise that just meant that the possibility of them finding their soul mate was so much less. All I really knew about the strange rocks was the basics, they heated up when your soul mate as in the room and then you would find the love of your life bla bla bla. We used to get taught about them in primary school but I just took that as my chance to sleep. I didn't care about them in the slightest, atleast they looked cute though.

I opened my wardrobe door to look at all my clothes. This was hard, I wanted to impress but I didn't want to look like I tried to hard. I settled with some dark jeans a simple cosy t-shirt. I might as well be comfortable. Walking into the bathroom I washed my face, brushed my teeth and spent about twenty minutes on my quiff. My quiff was like artwork to me, and to get it just perfect was worth having to wake up earlier then usual for. I jogged down the stairs to see my mum was already awake sitting on the sofa. She had already got dressed, done her hair and makeup. You could tell she was overly keen about this, I think she was more nervous then my first day or school then me.

' I'll make you some breakfast, what do you want?' She said, jumping up from the sofa when she saw me.

' I'm just going to have a granola bar, I'm not that hungry' I replied. Making her fake smile she had plastered on her face die down, as she slowly say back down on the sofa.

I went to the kitchen and for my favourite bar, chocolate and hazlenut. Unwrapping it I munched down. I was hardly hungry, but I knew my mum wouldn't let me leave the house without some food down my throat. I didn't know whether I wanted to take my time and eat it slowly and delay the inevitable, or just quickly eat it and get on with it. I decided to just get on with it, I could see out of the corner of my eye my mum fiddling with her thumbs and the last thing I needed was her to be stressed. It must be hard for her too moving to a whole new country, she didn't know anyone either. Coming to think of it, this move was probably harder for her, she had to leave so many friends behind that she had be close to since she was my age, I wasn't exactly the most popular person at my school, I kept myself, to myself.

' Come on then, let's go' I said to my mum. Watching her quickly get up and nodding her head like an eager puppy. But with all the excitement she was trying to convey I could tell how she was really feeling. I could read her like an open book, but sometimes I wished I didn't need to and that she would open up to me. I took in a deep breathe. I didn't want to mention anything now, but I knew I would have to soon. I just wanted my mum to relax. I strolled to the front door, picking my backpack on the way. I was trying to come out confident, hoping that it would make my mum relax a bit more but it looked like she was to caught up I'm her own thoughts to notice little details like how I was walking.

I got in the passenger side of the car, my mum wanted to drive me to school today. I had no idea why, she would never back home in America, we might be in Australia but I doubt a massive spider was going to come out and attack me.
