(Hey gurlies! this is my first fan fic so bare with me. I would absolutely love your input and constructive criticism so go for it. Pretty please Vote and comment cause it would mean the world to me. Well, let's get this started!)

Delilah's POV:

"Your dinners in the fridge. When you're hungry, put it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Tonight is my late night so I won't be back till about 1:15" I said.

I dont even know why I try with her anymore. Ever since my dad left us 11 years ago she hasn't said a word to me. She stopped working two years ago so, I was forced to go out and find a job. Little did I realize that getting paid ten dollars an hour at Applebee's wouldn't even pay half of the bills. So here I am, a seventeen year old drop out working 3 different jobs; just to afford a place to live.

Once I stepped out of the apartment and onto the streets of New York City, I have to walk two blocks to get down to the subway. Usually I would walk the whole way, but I really can't afford being late to my job at Barnes and Nobel today, because we just got a new stock of The Fault in Our Stars; that everyone seems to not be able to get enough of.

As I get onto the subway I'm greeted with my one and only friend, Halley. Halley was two years older then me. She's from California and goes to college at NYU for acting.

"Hey bitch" she said.

To her being called a bitch was a complement. She once told me that it meant that you had a certain spark in your voice and fire in your eyes. She had really intrresting theories for just about everything.

" There's supposed to be this awesome glow in the dark dorm party tonight. You should come." She said.

" Halley... How many times do I have to tell you that Fridays are my late nights?" I said.

Although I loved Halley, she could be somewhat annoying. She never really paid attention to anything that I had to say that wasnt involving her.

"Sorry, I forgot. Maybe tomorrow we cou-"

she was interrupted by her phone ringing. Her ringtone was some song about underwear by this band she absolutely loved. She always tried to make me a fan too but I'm really not that into music.. not since my father left anyways.

"Sorry darling, but I have to take this" She told me.

I nodded and told her it was fine. As she talked on the phone, I decided to count the amount of money I have, mentally crossing my fingers that I have enough for the rest of the week.

Two five dollar bills, and ten singles. Shit. Well, that's another day without breakfast or dinner.

The train came to a halt and everyone fled off. I was given a small wave from Halley and then I was off to start my day. For the past 730 days I've been doing the same exact thing and not until now have I wanted to stop and do something different. Because right now I'm just surviving. what happened to living?
