Chapter 16

I had grown quite close to Itachi, and it was finally time to go on a mission with him!

"What can you tell us about the Nine-tails's jinchuriki?" Kisame-sensei asked.

Excitedly, I replied, "We were best friends before I joined you guys. He's been alone for his entire life. He's on Team 7 with Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno. Kakashi Hatake, the 'Copy Ninja,' is his sensei. He has a strong bond with Iruka Umino and Sasuke."

Itachi nodded at me. We walked onwards in silence.

Time skip~ to Konohagakure

"I'm baaaack~" I whispered to myself.

Itachi placed his hand on my shoulder, and we walked forward.

Almost immediately we were confronted by Asuma Sarutobi and Kurenai Yuhi. They seemed surprised by my presence.

"Y/N, were you kidnapped?" Asuma questioned.

I looked to Itachi and he nodded microscopically.

I removed the genjutsu from over my left eye, revealing its true, non-E/C color. It was a Sharingan eye.

Itachi had helped me steal Shisui Uchiha's other eye from Danzo Shimura. After the fact, he helped me learn the techniques.

Recently, we had found out that Gary, my younger brother was killed in action. Azu, Suigetsu, Kisame, and I had a bit of a cry fest. Orochimaru was apparently part of the killing. This triggered the awakening of my stolen eye's Mangekyo Sharingan. Everyone was surprised.

This meant I could use Sharingan genjutsu on the Leaf jonin.

Asuma unknowingly looked into my eyes, giving me a chance to put him under the Tsukuyomi.

Itachi glanced approvingly in my direction.

To the surprise of my companions and me, Kakashi and Kazuto-sensei approached and Kazuto declared, "I knew you were a problem! I have proof now! You've joined up with the Akatsuki!"

Kakashi glanced towards Kazuto. He said, "Y/N, have you been taken prisoner?"

I nodded innocently, with my eyes closed while I re-applied the genjutsu over my eye.

"Don't believe her, Kakashi! She put Asuma under a genjutsu!" Kurenai warned.

"Y/N was never very good at genjutsu, so that can't be true," Kazuto concluded knowingly.

I took that opportunity to nudge Kisame Sensei. He jumped over to Kazuto and grabbed him. He dragged my former sensei over to us.

Kazuto struggled and I whispered, "Don't you want to see Deidara? He's your best friend, isn't he?"

At that, Kazuto went still.

Long story short, we had to let Kazuto go, and Itachi put Kakashi under the Tsukuyomi. Gai showed up too, and I got to practice the Amaterasu. He managed to remove his vest before he burned to death. Asuma woke up, and he and Kurenai had to carry Kakashi. Gai was left with supporting a very injured Kazuto while relatively hurt himself.
