About a year or so ago I tried the constant glucose monitor by the brand Dexacom (It looked the same as the photo above). I had an overall wonderful experience and I only stopped due to a skin infection caused by the adhesive used. I have very sensitive skin so I don't think it'll everyone. Anyways I hope I can answer any questions y'all have about this particular CGM down below. If I didn't answer a question or you want a more detailed answer feel free to message me or email me at: Indeedbelowaverage@gmail.com.
1.What is a dexacom?
A dexacom is a constant glucose monitor. It checks blood sugar levels every 5 minutes over a 24 hour period. It also alerts when blood sugars are too high or too low.
2. How do you insert a dexacom?
In the picture above is the CGM, the applicator, and the dexacom itself. To insert the dexacom first you set the applicator, place it against the skin, and then release the button (I think) and then release the applicator. Afterwards, place the device onto the incision site. Finally you'll calibrate the monitor by checking your blood sugar as normal and inserting the data into the monitor. Here's a video tutorial that's much more helpful by youtuber DiabeticDanica: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPaAv4r0ijY
3. How often do you have to calibrate the dexacom?
Twice a day. I suggest every 12 hours or once when you wake up and once before you go to sleep.
