The fire alarm beeps loudly into my eardrums, making my eyes shoot open.
I skim through the room trying to figure out where the smoke is coming from, but my vision is blurry. It's coming from everywhere! It's like I'm standing on top of a burning cigarette! I hop off of my bed, looking at all my burning clothes around me, "What is happening?" I sob, realizing that I can't even hear clearly."My laptop," I manage to say between my sobs, knowing that it cost me three months of "Good afternoon sir, what can I get you?" so I can start my freelancing career. I start coughing and I can barely lift my feet off of the ground. It all feels like a nightmare.
"Mum's cardigan" I sob harder. It's the last thing I have left of her. The room gets hotter and the Oxygen level lessens, I feel my breaths becoming heavier. I find the cardigan and a piece of me falls into place. My limbs give up on me, and my body thumps on the floor.
"Pamela, is that you?" I hear a man's faded voice that my mind doesn't recognize, all I could do is nod, even though I know quite well that he can't see me, but my body no longer has the energy to emerge a sound.
"Pamela!" He calls again and I still can't answer him. Seconds later, his strong hands lift my body off of the ground and I gasp when the cardigan falls from my weak hands to the fire. "Noo.." I cry in pain, knowing that my voice isn't audible.
"Pamela baby, are you okay?" he whispers up my plump lips and I shake my head. "We're on our way to the hospital; you're going to be okay. Hold on." He squeezes my hands tightly.
"Sir, are you a member of her family?" the Ambulance-man asks the stranger who's holding my hands.
"Yes, I'm her husband." He answers and I look up at him, not having the energy to protest. Why is he lying?
"Can you please sign these papers? And please, if you'd excuse me, we have to supply her body with Oxygen." I watch the stranger signing the papers for the ambulance-man in sleepy eyes.
"Pamela, you're going to be okay. Have some sleep, baby." The stranger puts his lips on mine and passionately takes all the left Oxygen in body away. My eyes catch his warm hazel eyes before I drift to sleep with an Oxygen mask on my face.
