Annabel

"Harper!" I yell at my sister.

"What do you want?" She yells back from her room.

"It's time for school!" I yell making my mom wince.

"Bel, can you please be quiet." She begs me.

"Sorry, but I don't want to be late on my first day! It's bad enough I have to drive her to school!" I say flipping my dark brown hair over my shoulder. My brother's door opens and he storms out.

"College doesn't start for another week, so don't wake me up early!" He yells glaring down at me.

"Sorry Brady." I say innocently. Harper comes out of her room finally.

"Let's go." She says walking down the stairs. I glare at my little sister, shaking my head. I leave the house and start my car. I got the car for my seventeenth birthday, provided I payed for half. Harper is only fifteen, meaning she can't drive yet. I start the car and pull out of my driveway.

"What took you so long?"

"I fell back asleep."

"I woke you up twice." I say flatly.

"I feel asleep both times then." I shake my head, continuing to drive to school. "So what is my veggie sister so excited for today?" I roll my eyes as I stop at a red light. I am the only vegetarian in my family, so this earns me a lot of jokes about my eating habits.

"Not being late." I say as I pull away from the light. "It's our first day, let's make a good impression Harpy."

"Oh please, are we ever late?"

"Thanks to me we're not." I mutter under my breath. She brushes her golden locks over her shoulders.

"Whatever, I don't even want to go to school."

"And you think I do?" I ask her smirking. I pull into a parking space and pull the keys out of the ignition. "Let's do this Harper." I say opening my car door. All eyes are on us, I was expecting this. A new girl in a small town is bound to create waves. I close my car door and walk into the school with Harper close behind. Finding my way to the office I smile at the office worker.

"Harper and Annabel Trent here for our schedules." I say politely.

"Here you are dear." She says handing me two pieces of paper. I hand Harper her schedule and read my own.

"I'm going to go, by Anne." She says giving me a quick, nervous smile. I walk slowly, still reading my schedule. I walk right into someone, falling onto my butt. I look up and see a boy sitting on the floor, his books skewed around the hallway. He has dark hair, like me, it with dark eyes. My eyes are a light silver color.

"I am so sorry," I say quickly grabbing his books. He laughs, shaking his head.

"No problem. You're new?" He asks.

"Is it that obvious?" I ask giving him a sheepish smile.

"That lost expression we all know too well. I'm Draven."

"Nice to meet you, I'm Annabel." He helps me up and grabs his books.

"Need help finding your way?"

"Yeah, I really do." I say smiling. He glances at my schedule and leads me to my locker.

"Our school is pretty small, it'll be easy to find your way around."

"That's good," I say letting out a deep breath.

"Here is your locker." I turn the knob, putting in my combination. I open my locker and shove some books in.

"Thanks Draven." I say smiling.

"Sadly you only have period one with me, but I know people who can help you. And why did you start school two weeks late?" He asks as we start walking.

"My mother took her time packing, I really don't have an answer for that. It would have been easier to start school with everyone else, but no." I say lying slightly. My mother did take awhile packing, and this move wasn't really planned.

"Well, it'll be fine anyway." We get to the classroom and I walk up to the teacher's desk. It is an older woman with a kind face.

"I am Annabel Trent, today is my first day."

"Yes, it's nice to meet you Annabel! You will be sitting next to Gypsy in the first row." She says. I nod making my way over to the front row. Draven and I are the only two in the room, since it is before the bell.

"Gypsy sits here," he says tapping a desk at the end of the row. "So you are here." He says tapping a desk beside Gypsy's.

"Thanks," I say sitting down.

"I was exiled to the back, something about being too tall." He says making his way to the back of the classroom. Draven is very tall, much taller than my short height. The bell rings and more people trickle in. I assume Gypsy sits in the desk beside me. She has electric pink hair and brown eyes. She is tall, almost as tall as Draven.

"I'm Gypsy," she says smiling at me.

"Annabel." I say smiling. More of the class walk in, making their way to their seats. A boy walks in with light brown hair and green eyes. My breath catches in my throat, surprising me. He is tall, taller than Draven even. His eyes meet mine and widen. He sits in a desk in the row next to mine. I feel his eyes on me. I take a deep breath closing my eyes. Don't make this difficult for yourself Annabel, just get through your first day without falling in love. You don't need to be tripping over or feet like a lost puppy as a first impression. I shake my head running a hand through my hair. You don't need this. I try to listen to the teacher, but all I feel is his eyes.
