(Chanyeol's POV)
My computer had died about an hour ago, so I was playing games on my phone it's currently 7:25pm almost time for Eunil's shift to end, As his boss sauntered into the café, I rose from my seat and observed him scan the room until he found Eunil. He sprinted over to him, seizing his wrist as he attempted to prepare a drink for a customer.
"You promised me that you could close up shop at night, but now you're trying to leave by using Park Chanyeol, the son of a wealthy family. What are you thinking? All you think about is your deceased mother! You-" Eunil broke down, tears streaming down his face. I rushed over and pulled the man away from him, looking him straight in the eyes. He froze.
"You don't have any right to talk like that to anyone," I said, but before I could finish my sentence, he whirled around and hit my cheek. I stumbled back, catching myself on a nearby table. "Ah, you're too easy, just another cocky brat." Across from us, Eunil stood frozen, tear stains streaking down his face.
The man lunged at me, and I felt myself sail through the air then crash to the ground. The linoleum floor skidded beneath us as he pinned me down. Horror gripped the crowd as people started backing away from the fight. Someone called 911, while others waved their cellphones, capturing the scene. With a sudden surge of strength, I shoved him away and ran to Eunil, who stood motionless in shock. Taking him into my arms, I curled my body around his small frame, hoping to muffle the noise of the commotion—the yelling, screaming, cussing—and provide a safe space for his terrified mind.
The urgent wail of police sirens outside clued me in that something was wrong. Eunil quickly grabbed my arm and pushed me aside, then stepped forward to meet the officers when they burst through the door. The officer at the front barked an order for everyone to freeze, but he paused mid-sentence and surveyed the area with narrowed eyes. His partner had made her way into the cafe and looked over at Eunil with a sigh. "I got called here because of a fight," she said before casually walking towards us.
Eunil looked down again, his boss started accusing me of starting it the officers sighed "You're saying these kids started a fight with you because the small one said they couldn't close up your shop because it was too late, and he has school tomorrow?" he drawled out, resting against the counter of the drink bar. I observed the officer in front of us he turned to Eunil's boss "I'll only give you a fine and I'll have to keep an eye on this shop to make sure you follow the law from now on you or your 18+ staff can close up the shop and on top of that I'll personally be checking to make sure you paid this boy for his work after this altercation".
The officer clamped a heavy hand onto the scumbag's shoulder and gave it a firm squeeze. Turning towards us, he flashed a dimpled grin. "Now then, Eunil," he said. "I hope you're doing okay. Jiwoong's missed you around the house." He paused as if knowing something more was going on. "I think I know why you haven't been around the place. It's because you're dating that tall boy behind you."
Eunil froze, his eyes widening with surprise before lashing out and smacking the officer on the arm. "He's not my boyfriend!", Eunil spat. "He's heading home now anyway... Right hyung?"
I hummed in response, not trusting my voice to say anything else as I watched Eunil disappeared into the back to change and grab his things.
"Do you like Eunil?" The officer asked with a mischievous chuckle. I nodded slowly, feeling my cheeks heat up.
"Ah I should introduce myself my name is Sung Hanbin just call me Hanbin though, I live with my partner Jiwoong. Eunil's mother gave us custody of him, so we currently take care of him" I nodded bowing "I'm Park Chanyeol the son of Kim Jun-myeon".
Eunil returned from the back wearing his school uniform, tugging on Hanbin's sweater. He gestured towards the door with a weary sigh, "Chanyeol do you want to come over? It's quite late." Eunil grumbled in frustration, "Please just go home....Chanyeol," he fixed Hanbin with a glare before storming out of the cafe. I nodded and smiled in response then quickly gathered my things and grabbed my bag. I ran after Hanbin, seeing him wave at the other officer as we left. He took off down the street and I followed close behind him, struggling to keep up with his long strides as he murmured, "the house is in walking distance".
(Timeskip)
Chanyeol cautiously opened the door, the aroma of freshly cut mangos wafting in with him as he stepped into his friend's home. He removed his shoes and held tightly to his bag, eyeing Eunil's shoes lined up neatly on the floor. The sound of raised voices guided him through the living room, where two boys were engaged in an argument over a remote control. He spied one boy sitting on the couch with white earbuds wedged into his ears, gaze glued to his phone.
The boy abruptly looked up, narrow eyes fixing Chanyeol warily. His two companions bristled, ready to pounce at any sign of trouble. Chanyeol stood still, bowing slightly. "Ch-chanyeol...I thought you'd go home." At that moment, Eunil rushed forward, stumbling over himself in his haste.
An older man eyed me as I stepped into the warm kitchen, a towel tucked around his waist to protect himself from food spills. He paused in wiping his hands and held them out for a friendly handshake. "Your Eunil's boyfriend, aren't you?" he asked, though the corners of his eyes twinkled with amusement. I shook his hand firmly and smiled back. "I'm not his boyfriend just a friend," I clarified, and the older man nodded.
Eunil exchanged glances with the other boys, a tinge of embarrassment in his eyes as he said, "See! He's not my boyfriend." The boys laughed and resumed their fight from earlier. Eunil sighed and turned towards me, His eyes rolled up to the ceiling as he said quietly, "We'll be...upstairs Jiwoong." Mr. Jiwoong nodded, and I bowed once more before we started our ascent up the creaky wooden staircase. With every step, I could feel the heat radiating off of Eunil, who was ahead of me. Trying desperately not to look too closely at the shape of his backside, I glanced away when we reached the top of the stairs. We walked into an average-sized bedroom together silently, and I took in all of its details: a desk piled high with miscellaneous papers and sheets hanging from the walls covered with images and doodles.
Then my gaze settled on a guitar perched atop a stand in the corner of the room, and I couldn't help but ask: "You play guitar?" Eunil sat down on his bed next to it, running a hand along its strings as he looked down at it thoughtfully. Finally, he said something: "Yeah...I do."
He looked at me quizzically and stammered, "You can...close the door if you want." I stepped into the room and closed it behind me. My gaze fell on the disarray of papers spilling from the table, covered in bright red markings. "Eunil, what happened to these?" I held up the sheets, and he glanced at them for a moment before replying, "They weren't good enough. So, I trashed them." I nodded, carefully smoothing out the wrinkled pages as best I could. When they were legible again, I ran my eyes over them and picked up the guitar nearby to make sure it was still in tune. Playing through the notes written down on the page, I marveled at how amazing they sounded when combined. Eunil began singing, accompanying my strumming without looking at the paper,
As Eunil sang, his voice was like honey and the sweet acoustic guitar accompaniment filled the space. When he finished, I looked over him in awe. His ears were glowing bright pink, and a shy smile tugged at his lips. I leaned forward and carefully placed the guitar down on its stand. "Your voice is really pretty...and this song is amazing" I said, grinning.
The knock on the door caused Eunil to freeze, his eyes wide with surprise. Hanbin stood on the other side, smiling brightly in a baby blue sweater that dangled off one shoulder. "Hey there boys! Dinner's ready now, so come join us please~" He turned and walked away, leaving the door open for us to hear the yelling from downstairs. I opened my mouth to speak but Eunil was already walking out the door, so I followed behind him as he made his way back down the stairs.
He whispered to me, "The yelling is normal in this house - thank you for the compliment." We reached the dining table to find everyone already seated and waiting for us. The other boys gave me intimidating stares while a warm and welcoming smile spread across Hanbin's face and Mr. Jiwoong's. I settled into my chair as Eunil took his place at the table and we began to feast on the food prepared for us.
So sorry if there are any errors next chapter will be just dinner and Chanyeol staying over at the house because it was getting late and stuff I might do a lot timeskips in the chapter
