Identity struggle

You are always told what you are supposed to be, either by yourself or by society. Of course you'd want to look like the top leading models or that one pretty actor you saw in a movie 3 years ago. Like anything, it takes time to figure certain things out. Even if it seems like the longest thing in the world. Finding yourself is one of those dreadful things. Now, if you didn't have questions about yourself, you wouldn't be confused and looking for answers. Many families do not accept change of ones member's choice and decide to abandon them completely or seek to change them back, as if this was a choice. Being told that you don't know yourself yet or you aren't of age to properly know? That gives you yet more doubt and questions and fear.

In a more advanced civilization that has all the information at their fingertips, you would THINK that people would have a much more open mind and have an easier time understanding certain things. But sadly, we are only human. It's hard to be told to be patient when it's your own body or way of being. You just want to love yourself and be happy with you and whoever you choose to be with. Why is it such a struggle?
