I pull into a gas station just before Empangeni and lean against my car as I wait for Ford. He pulls up next to me and climbs out. Once again, my mouth dries as he walks around my car, his T shirt stretched across his tight chest and the extra paunch around his waist, his biceps straining against his sleeves. His expression is hidden behind his beard, aviators and a swathe of blonde curls that have fallen across his one eye and I'm reminded how intimidating this large man is. But he is Ford, the funny, witty, yet sensitive man I have been chatting with for the past hour and I smile up at him.

"So, I guess this is goodbye, Ford". He nods and stares down at me. "And, um, good luck with the Bitch, no, I mean, the party tonight."

"I want to see you again, Golf."

I swallow. This is fast but it feels so right and I'm torn.

"Can I meet you here on your way back?" he asks. "Just to make sure youre safe, and that you didn't rebound with the rebound."

I snort, the most unsexy laugh ever. "Ok, fine, Ford. I'll let you know when I'm heading back."

He reaches out and brushes a strand of hair out of my face. "Thank you." He murmurs.

I stand and look up at him. Lost for words, my skin burning at his touch. He leans down and brushes a kiss on my lips. My heart stutters and I raise my hand to rest on his shoulder as I stand on my toes to deepen the kiss. He pulls me closer, his deep masculine scent enveloping me as his large hands caress my back. I wrap my arms around his neck. All my stress from the drive and my lack of sleep, seep out of my body and I am just present, kissing an amazing man. Slowly he releases me but keeps his hand on my shoulder, catching his breath as he stares down at me.

"Golf, the next bit of road is dangerous. Keep my number on speed dial. If anything happens to your car I want you to phone me immediately. Do not get out of the car."

"Ok, Ford. I promise. But I'm sure I'll be fine. Now go, I'm sure your brother is waiting for you."

He gives me another quick hug and heads back to his truck. I don't know if I'll ever see him again but I stand there watching him leave, the kiss burning on my lips.
