Chapter 25

Shawn Mendes

I was never expecting to be called by a police officer and hear that my best friend, the girl that I loved, was in a coma, I had never thought that Kaleigh was going to get hurt, she was such a good person and she tried to please everyone but in the end, she couldn't, she didn't deserve it, she didn't deserve to die, I know she wasn't dead, but she might as well be. Cameron had suffered some scratches on his face but he ran all the way back to the hotel and all 13 of us piled into the car, the whole car ride, Lily was crying and Taylor was trying to comfort her, Cameron was staring into a blank space while Jem, Hayes and Matt were trying to make him talk, then there was me, I didn't show any emotion on my face, I stared down at my lock screen image, it was a picture of Kaleigh smiling and pretending to blow a kiss. Aaron and Carter tried to comfort me as well, but I pushed them away, Nash was hugging Mahogany who looked like she was ready to kill anyone that she saw.

It was a short ride, but it felt like forever, as soon as the car stopped, I knew that I had to see her, I knew that I had to tell her that I loved her and that I needed her, that if she stayed, I would always be there for her and that everyone needed her, that she had a little sister that couldn't lose her other siblings, that she had parents that couldn't lose their other child, she had to live and in a come or out, I knew that she would be able to hear me. So that's what I did, I burst into the hospital and a few girls looked at me, squealing but I ignored them, I didn't have time for fans, I needed to see Kaleigh, she was the most important girl in my life right now. The nurses shushed the girls and I got one of the nurses to take me to her room, she opened the door and tears began to well in my eyes as soon as my eyes locked onto her, she was so beautiful even when she was close to death, the nurse closed the door behind me and I fell onto my knees next to the hospital bed. "Kaleigh..." I whispered and reached up, searching for her hand, as soon as her hand was in mine, I felt the strength to stand up and be strong, this was what she could do to me, she could give me the strength to face anything and everything with just a single touch or one of her amazing smiles, she made it seem like I could do anything. So, I forced myself onto the chair and rubbed her knuckles with my thumbs, that's how we were for a few minutes, until I got the strength to talk and it all slipped out of my lips.

"I love you Kaleigh and I always have, I thought that if I brought you here, I would finally be able to ask you to be mine, but then you fell in love with Cameron and you met Luke, I wish that I had made you stay in Canada and I know that's selfish but if I hadn't let you come, you wouldn't be in a hospital bed clinging onto the last bit of life." I stopped for a second before continuing "Kaleigh, you can't leave us, you have a little sister and she needs you more than ever now, your parents need you, the boys need you, Lily needs you, Jem and Mahogany need you, I need you." I whispered the last part and took another deep breath before continuing "You need to come back to us, because we can help you through this and your such a good person, your young and beautiful, you still have a whole life to live and so much to bring to this world, your my sun and my moon, your the reason I go to sleep at night and the reason that I wake up in the morning, I love you to the moon and back." I stopped but this time I didn't continued, I had said all I had to say.

I stood up from my seat and turned away, starting to walk over to the door when a soft voice stopped me "I love you too.", I spun around and Kaleigh was laying there, her eyes barely open and a small smile on her face. "Kaleigh..." I whispered "Your awake, your awake!", she giggled and I ran back over to her and pulled her into my embrace "Never ever leave me again." I mumbled into her ear and she nodded into the crook of my neck, I pulled away and a frown replaced her smile. So I did the one thing that I knew would bring her smile back, I smashed my lips onto hers and she kissed back, it felt amazing and it felt like we were the only ones in the room, which technically we were but it was like she wasn't in a hospital and we where back at home, sitting on the old tire swing, just like we had been a few days before we got back to MagCon. Whenever I kissed her, it felt like I was falling in love with her all over again and everything I said in that speech was true, she was the reason that I went to sleep at night and woke up in the morning, she was my absolute everything and I couldn't have asked for a better person than her. The door burst open and we jumped apart, everyone was staring at us and then Lily burst into tears again before flinging herself at Kaleigh, "Your awake, your not dead." she sobbed and Kaleigh rubbed her back "Nope, I'm staying right here, with you." she said and they pulled apart, Lily smiled softly and wiped away the tears "Best friends?" she asked and Kaleigh responded with a small nod.

She had greeted everybody, her parents had heard and taken a flight here, they would be here soon so we volunteered to go and pick them up, Lily decided to stay behind because she said that she needed to call someone and she wanted to spend a bit of time with her best friend. The rest of us tumbled out of the room and avoided a few girls as we went back to the van, we sat in the same order and I noticed a few girls crowding around a black sports car as the van pulled out of the parking lot and down the street. I pushed the car to the back of my head as we drove through the streets of Nashville and turned to Matt, he started to strike up a conversation with me and I soon forgot about the black sports car.

Kaleigh Jones

Everyone except Lily had gone to pick up my parents and Lily was currently outside talking to someone, I sighed and fiddled with my bracelet, they let me get changed into some of my own clothes since I had complained about everyone being able to see my butt. After bothering them for a while, they finally let me get changed and now I was lying on top of the covers, waiting for Lily to stop talking to this mystery person and come back inside to talk to her best friend who is currently in a hospital bed. The door opened and my eyes darted upwards, I was expecting to see Lily but instead my eyes locked onto Luke Hemmings blue eyes and a big smile crept onto my face "Luke!" I exclaimed and sat up, he chuckled and pushed me back down "Calm down Kal." he grinned and sat down next to me, I moved slightly and he laid down so there was no space between us. I rested my head onto his chest and he wrapped his arms around me "I missed you so much and I was so worried." he whispered into the crook of my neck which made shivers run down my back "Never do something like that again." he said, but this time he had more of a serious tone than usual. I nodded and he propped himself onto his elbow, my head fell back onto the pillow and he leaned closer to me, "What would you do if I kissed you?" he asked and before I could process what he said, he pressed his lips against mine and cupped my cheeks in his hands. 

I moved my hands up to his hair and tangled them into his perfect quiff, he rubbed his thumbs across my cheeks and pulled away so we could get some air, so we laid there, him hovering over me and our lips inches apart, if we moved, we would kiss and right now that's exactly what I wanted to happen, so I pushed myself up an inch and placed my lips back onto his. He moved one of his hands up my jumper and my shirt, so his hand rested on my hips, I flinched at his cold touch but I didn't move away or slap his hand, it felt strange but it was a good kind of strange. I moved one of my own hands and slung my arm around his neck, pulling him closer, he flipped us over so I was hovering over him and moved his lips to my neck, I let out a soft moan and he placed small kisses down my neck and started to lift my jumper over my head. "Wow, I wasn't expecting that." Lily exclaimed and we pulled apart, I rolled off of him and moved back to laying next to his side, this was the second time that Lily had caught us kissing and it was starting to piss me off that she only walked into the room when things were actually going somewhere, why couldn't she come in when we were just starting to kiss so it would be a tiny bit less awkward. I rolled my eyes and Luke grinned cheekily "I can't help it." he said and the three of us burst out laughing, I was actually a bit glad that it had been Lily walking into the room because if it was anyone else, we would have been dead, if it was Shawn or Cameron they would tell one another and completely ignore me for the rest of my life. If it was anyone else, then they would have told one of them or both of them and the same thing would have happened, and I can't afford to lose them.
