The irresistible Travis Kane
"Who stopped by?" Beth had come from the back with another pup to put in with Fonzie and Daisy. "Just that cowboy from yesterday." I answered before closing the cash register. "Oh. Mr. Sexy?" Beth wiggled her eyebrows. I shook my head and rolled my eyes. "Yea." She laughed as she passed me, her hand patting my back. I didn't have anything to do today so I joined Fonzie and the pups in the pen, my back to the door. I was attacked by all three of them in a blur of tongues and fur. "Git down." I laughed, pushing Fonzie away and the other two. He sat down while Daisy and Pepper started voicing around and squeaking their purple plastic fox. Fonzie decided then he was a lap dog and plopped right down on my lap. "Love you too, fluffy." I ruffled his ears and took the fox from Pepper, playing tug-o-war with her. Not maybe two minutes passed before a husky voice sounded behind me. "Dogs love ya, don't they." Fonzie jumped up at the voice, the top of his head hitting me square in the nose to begin his barking. The dog in the cowboys arms began wriggling and barking as well until Travis shushed him. "Fuck!" I jumped up and stepped out of the pen with a hand held over my nose. A wetness began to seep through my fingers and I began to flip. "Um. Excuse me." I made a mad dash for the bathroom in the lobby, shut the door, and grabbed wads of toilet paper. Great. Just... great.. I stood there with toliet paper stuffed up my nose for a good while before a knock sounded at the door. "Miss Kiernan... Are you all right?" I froze and pulled the tissue away from my face. "Uh. yea.. just.. give me a second." I called, turning on the sink to wet a paper towel and wipe away the dried blood. Oh, thank God my nose stopped! Tossing the remnants of a bloody nose in the trash, I opened the door and walked into the chest of a warm and firm male. He had his right hand braced on the door frame, the other moving to my hip to steady me. "I'm sorry!" I blushed. I tried to pull away but he wouldn't let me. His gaze burned into mine as I met his resilient blue eyes. This... was too close. He stood there just staring at me before finally moving away. "I'm sorry." He muttered, picking up Cooper from the ground. "I came back, wonderin' if you had any antibiotics that I could give Cooper." I couldn't move for a second, just watching him. Fonzie giving a little yelp yanked me out of my reverie. "If you feel the need to give them to him. Yes, we do in the back. Give me a second." I forced my feet to carry me into the back room and pick up some antibiotics for Coopers kind of injury. Giving Beth a small wave and taking a small breather, I went back out front. Travis was standing there with his dog, petting Fonzie. "I found some. If you'll give these to him twice a day, it should keep most infections away." I handed the bottle him, our fingers brushing. I swear I felt a shock jump through my skin at the slight contact. "Thank you.. and again, I'm sorry for the nose bleed." He met her gaze as he spoke. "Oh. Its nothing. Just a little bump." I offered a small smile, tucking my hair behind my ear. He was silent for awhile just watching me. "How much do I owe you for the medication." He asked. "Oh. There's no need. I should have given them to you before you left. The thought just escaped me." He nodded and shifted the heeler in his arms. "Thank you, again." With that, he turned on his heel and left out the door.
