Chapter 1:
"Clairah Reynold?"
"Here." I turned as the mistress called my name and beckoned me forward.
"We've found and contacted your uncle, dear. He should be here in a few days to come get you."
"Thanks you." I whispered. I walked back to my seat. The food in front of me was less than appetizing, but I had to eat sometime. Everything was creamed here, that was the problem.
I trudged back up to the dorm afterwards, and fell into bed. At least in a few days, I would be out of here. I closed my eyes, and fell asleep.

"Did you finish your assignment?" my mom asked me.
I sighed. "Yes, I finished it! How much longer until we get to the restaurant, I'm starving."
"About 5 more minutes." My father said. "How was class today?"
"Eh, boring. She gave a pop quiz, but it was easy stuff."
He laughed. "That's my Clairah, smart as a-"
He was cut off by a loud CRASH. The car that had hit us came to a halt, our bumpers hooked together.
My neck was sore, and I couldn't hear very well. I was still sitting in the backseat, but I couldn't really feel my body very well.
"Mom? Dad?" I coughed.
I unbuckled my seatbelt, and tried to move.
"Arhh!" I yelled. Pain shot through my arm and leg. I looked to my left and saw that the door was bent towards me, touching me actually.
I heard distant sirens, and realized what happened.
"Mom? Dad?" I called again, this time louder. "Hey!" I used my right arm, the good one, to touch my dads shoulder in front of me. He didn't move.
Someone knocked on the window. I turned and saw a stranger starring at me, motioning at me wildly. What was he saying. I shook my head to tell him I couldn't hear and couldn't move. He motioned for me to hang on, then ran off.
A few minutes later, a fireman busted open the door and got me out. They put me on a stretcher, and took me away.
I screamed and hollered for them to get my parents, too, but they ignored me. A female nurse leaned down and tried to calm me. It didn't work.
The scene went black. It changed into a hospital room, and I saw a man in a white coat reading a chart.
"Well, your leg and arm should heal in a few weeks, and your neck is fine, just some bruises. The cuts will heal up quickly enough. Now then," He said as he sat on the edge of my bed. "Who are your nearest relatives?"
"What? Why?"
His face panicked. "Oh, I-I'm sorry, I thought they had told you..."
"Told me what?" I didn't like where this was going. He sighed.
"I'm very sorry Ms. Reynold, but your parents didn't survive the accident."
I felt my body go cold, and everything shut down, fading to blackness.
I woke with tears in my eyes, the way I always did when I had that dream. It was more memory than dream, actually.
I hadn't gone back to school. It had been two weeks now. I had just been sent here. The mistress was kind and supportive, and she did the best she could with her limited budget. But I wanted out of here. I wanted fresh air, not polluted city grog.
