The boy

Every day, Violet did the same thing: feed the horses,sleep, feed the horses. One day a large black horse with a grey mane arrived at the barn with a short rider on its back. It was a boy around Violet's age with brown hair hair and eyes the color of the new summer leaves. Violet grabbed the horse's reigns and pulled it in the direction of the stables, but before she could get the horse in a stall the boy grabbed the reins and said forcefully, " I can do that myself". Violet let go of the reigns and stared down at the grown in fear that she had upset one of her customers. When the boy noticed this he handed her back the reins and held out his hand, "pleasure to meet you. The name's Beau. I was hired to help care for the horses." Violet muttered under her breath quietly, "I don't need help, go back to whatever castle you came from". At this the boy laughed and took off the small hat he had been wearing and replied, "Castle? Please, what I'm wearing is all I own. I've never seen a golden coin in my life." "Then why are you here, Beau is it?" "I told you, I need work." Violet starts to walk towards a small cabin, a few feet from the barn and waited for him to follow. She turned around to see him still standing in the barn stall. "You coming?", she yelled as he stood looking at her with a look of curiosity. Finally the boy caught up with her and they both walked into the old building. As soon as they walked in, Violet pointed at a small bed in the corner, "that's where you'll sleep and the food is in there", she said pointing at a small bag with a leather pocket. Beau laid on the bed with a huge smile on his face and stared at the girl making her cheeks heat up slightly. "What?", she said throwing an apple into his lap. "Oh, nothing. It's not often I get to sleep on a bed. Oh, can you tell me about the moon festival?" Violet sat on her bed and started to pull out a small stone, "It's a long story".
