Looking at myself in the mirror, I don't know what he can see in me. I am small, scrawny but completely normal in the ways that matter. I understand that, but does he?
2 weeks earlier.
"Look, this would look gorgeous on you!" Squeals Lily excitedly, holding up a black, low cut thigh length dress. Sighing, I take it out of her hands and gently set it back on the rail. "Look, you know I have no use for that sort of thing. Also, look at the price tag!" I say holding up the £90 price label. "Exactly!" Lily exclaims, "It's on sale!"
I love my best friend Lily, I really do. But sometimes she just doesn't understand me at all. Lily doesn't have anything in life to worry about. She has her whole life planned out for her. Get average grades. Get paid into the top Uni in the country. Get avenge grades again. Then leave Uni and marry a millionaire.
She even already has her engagement ring picked out. £250,000. That could supply my family for more than 8 years! Imagine.
As I'm thinking about all of this, the thoughts rushing through my head like a wild hurricane, Lily has rushed off. I sit down, giving up on shopping. I have never liked it, walking around wishing I had the money to buy things. I look up, and I see Lily running towards me with another bag in her hand. When she reaches me, she hands me the bag. "Here Phoenix, take it." I sigh, knowing that she has bought me the slutty dress.
That's another thing. My name. Such a bright, dauntless, electrifying name. For such an small shy girl. I really don't understand why I was given such a name. It's not as if I can ask my mum though.
There are so many things I don't understand. So many things I intend to find out. I don't know who I am, but I soon will.
A/N So I know that it isn't perfect, and I apologise for any mistakes. Hope you enjoyed :)
