Chapter Eighteen: I’m a Survivor
(Sophia’s P.O.V.)
Summer had only been going on for a couple weeks before the boys were in the USA, and the first thing Harry did when they arrived was demand to see me. He planned a whole night around it, taking a night off from any shows as an opportunity to fly out to where I was and then take me somewhere. The other boys had nothing better to do, so they agreed to go with us. Louis was able to fly Eleanor out but other than that the other boys’ girlfriends were too busy to meet up. Harry told me that they all thought the other Sophia just didn’t want to, because Harry was taking us camping. Perrie was honestly very busy with her own tour and Hailey was just too far to get out on time, plus her parents didn’t want her gone long. So it was me, Harry, the other boys, and El. It was going to be great.
I waited anxiously for them to arrive, and from there we would load up my gear before heading out. My dad gave Harry the directions to the campsite we went to when I was little, so there was a little more sentiment behind it for me. When the van pulled up I stood excitedly and slung my bag over my shoulders. Harry rushed out to greet me and helped me put things away while my parents made sure he knew where we were going and that we’d be safe. We bid our goodbyes and I hopped into the backseat squished between Harry and Niall. Liam was driving with the passenger seat to himself, while Louis and El took up the next row with Zayn in the middle. We had snacks galore and the trunk was filled to the brim with luggage and supplies.
“How long is the drive again?” Niall complained.
“I don’t remember exactly but I think around two hours, no traffic.”
“But there’s gonna be morning rush hour,” he whined.
“Just enjoy the presence of your best mates,” Zayn called back.
“Yeah, it’s nice to see you too,” I hit him lightly.
“It’s always a delight to see you Sophia, you know that.”
I detected the teasing sarcasm but chose to ignore his banter. I’d had to get up early for this, so I stretched my legs over Niall’s and rested my head on Harry’s lap. Soon I was asleep listening to everyone else chat happily.

I woke up when I realized we were stopped at a gas station.
“Your American cars need to be filled too often,” Louis said to me.
“You’re just not used to it because you never drive a normal car. Living in big cities does that to you.”
“Guys, we stopped because some of us have to use the loo,” Liam said,
“we just happen to be filling the tank as well.”
“Good, cause I have to go!” I said and rushed inside. Only Niall followed. There was a single stalled restroom for all genders, so we had to wait in a small line. We were headed northward which meant there were less people, so there was not a mob of girls after the boys. Niall and I just talked while we waited in line for my turn to go.
“So how are you Sophia?” He asked.
“I’m good,” I replied in a questioning tone, “how are you?”
“Oh I’m fine.”
“That’s good.”
He paused for a minute and I thought we would stand in peaceful silence until he started talking again.
