The moon's light hit the girl's light brown locks. Diana wrapped her slender arms around herself as the warm, light breeze flew through her hair. The further her feet carried her across the boardwalk, the more newly found sand weighted down her bright aqua flip flips. She tugged on the edge of her thin, white shirt, allowing air to meet with her slightly tanned skin through the holes. She had been crying for a while, but stopped as she ran most of the way here. There was an opening out in the front and she took off her shoes, stepping onto the cool sand. The view was quite a wonder, blessed as she was; she knew this blessing was one of the greatest she's ever had. Watching the Pacific Ocean stay still in the peace and quiet of the night allowed her for her own sanctuary.
Her heart hurt.
She stumbled across the sand as more tears fell out of her eyes. "Like crystal beads," her mother would say. Diana laughed a bitter laugh, remembering her mom's wise words. Her bare legs sticking out of jeans shorts carried her toward the shoreline. She stopped a few good feet away from it, not wanting to be near the water because of her fear. The weight on her heart suddenly became heavier and weighted her body down on the sand. She sat there; a beautiful mess.
Her grey orbs wandered the dark water in front of her, tracing the moon's beam across the curious surface. Diana could feel her body tremble. She had to get it together. Bringing her knees close to her chest, she wrapped her arms around them, resting her chin down. The tears damped her chin so she let herself calm down and wiped it against the sleeve of her shirt. Why were people so secretive? Why couldn't they just get along?
Why was there so much hate in the world?
She couldn't help but think that if people would just talk about problems with the other person, instead of talking about that other person, the world would be a better place. Tears were threatening to fall again but she had to fight them back.
She was sick of being heartbroken. Of always being let down and played with. Everybody she had expected the highest of always let her down by doing the lowest thing any person could ever do. People just needed to leave her alone. She slowly unwrapped her arms and stretched her long legs out in front of her.
She decided to lay down on the sand, her back against it. Her eyes caught hold of a million little stars. With the soothing sound of the waves, and the quietness around her, her eyelids closed as her heart began to mend for the night, just like it always had after he had let her down.

Nick quickly passed every inch of the island, his eyebrows furrowing at the sight of movement every now and then. Anger and hatred was building up inside him and toward himself. He wouldn't ever be able to forgive himself for what he had done. Reason being, he had no idea. Maybe he did, but he didn't know how to come out with it.
But then remembering her face made the urge to do so stronger. She was the best thing that had ever happened to him. Why was he an idiot?
All of a sudden he felt a sting in his fist. Realizing that he punched the fence on the boardwalk, he stopped to lean against the bar. "Fuck," he murmured, wrapping his hand against his dark black shirt. He sighed and looked out into the dark water. There were lamp posts near the area and lit up fire torches, but he was still worried.
"Where are you, Diana..." he said, barely a whisper. His heart began to race as he continued walking down. He spot bright blue flip flops, almost as if they had been thrown. They were Diana's. He picked them up and his eyes wandered the area. He had to find her.
