You haven’t been walking this earth long but the demon inside you has. She has taken over your life and actually you’ve never seen the same things again. You’ve crossed three different states so far and grown accustomed to diner food, on the rare occasion you ate. Vanishing was your favorite trick. Loved seeing the look on someone’s face when one minute you were there and the next you weren’t.
You’d watch couples walk around hand in hand and you’d stare them down. You often throw little things like acorns or drop a stick in their path to watch them trip up. Strolling through the park you’d mess with dogs with one of your own, only they couldn’t see it. In the distance you see a man turning flowers he’d just given people into venus fly traps. You saw him watch as the people walked away in horror at his gift.
Getting closer he sees you and extends a flower to you. “A pretty flower to a pretty lady.” You take it but it doesn’t turn. You look into his eyes, “isn’t this supposed to be a fly trap?” “Not for you.” He turns his head to the side, “you seem different.” “You could say that.” You blink and your black eyes show. “Well I’m different too.” A flash of white fills his eyes.
“You’re an angel?” “Archangel actually. They call me Gabriel.” “Y/N.” You turn to walk and he quickens his pace to walk next to you. “So angel, what are you doing tricks for?” “Well I love that nickname so I thought I’d live up to it.” “Huh. Well then Mr. Trickster what are you doing here.” “Hiding mostly; while my brothers are feuding so I’m staying away. Ever been to the boardwalk?”
Before you could answer he puts his hand on your shoulder and you continue walking on wooden planks. You look at him still in stride, “full of tricks. I might have to keep my eye on you.” You smile and he pulls out another flower and sticks it in your hair. Walking with him you both point out things to each other. He has charm and finds humor in anything and you can find the darkness. You see a couple and drop a stick in their path. Gabriel removes it and replaces it with a larger one. You look over at him then back at the stumbling couple. You both laugh and continue walking and soon feel pressure in your hand. Looking down you see he’s holding your hand.
As the sun sets over the water you both stop to look at it. You think to say a thousand things but no words pass your lips. He looks at you and your turn your head to look at him. He takes your head in his hands and gives you a kiss and to your surprise you kiss back. After your lips part you actually smile at him, “is this crazy?” “What,” he matches your smile. “For a demon to love an angel?” Nothing more is said and you both turn back to the sunset and you put your head on his shoulder.THE END
