Kennedy's POV

Oh, heck no. Oh CRAP! What the fruit-loops!? HOW? WHY?!!

Sebastian and I stare at each other in horror and shock. How are we mates?

That crap's just not right!

We both seem to be arguing with our wolves in our heads. Mine went something like this:

Me; "I can't be mates with my step-brother. He's my mother's mate's son, that's just gross!"

Wolf; 'Oh, shut up, he's not gross, he's freakin' gorgeous!! Look at the man!"

M; "Shut up! It's Seb, you hormone crazed mutt!"

W; " gasps! "If I'm a mutt then you are too, and I know it's Seb! And don't act like you don't think he's delicious. With that hair, those gorgeous eyes, and abs you just want to lick chocolate syrup off of-"

"OH MY GOSH!!" I scream, shooting off the bed, cutting her off before she can get any more detailed, and end up scaring Seb. He shoots up off the bed too, instinctively crouching in a fighting stance, searching the room for danger.

Finding none, he turns to me. "What!?"

My face probably resembles a flaming tomato right now. I unconsciously look down at his abs. He hasn't put on his shirt after his shift yet. He fallows my gaze, very confused, as my face turns impossibly redder.

Oh, Sweet Biscuits, please just shoot me now.

My wolf over powers me for a moment, and a purr escapes my lips as my eyes are forced back to his abs. Seb seems to finally realize what's going on, and his face changes color to mach my own as he runs to his room to grab a shirt.

I hear a knock on my open door, and my mom walks in. She sits on my bed and looks at me with sympathy.

"Hey, baby girl." she says. "Now, I know this sound cliche', but it's not the end of the world. Just think, I didn't find my mate until two years ago, and we still have our whole lives together, at least 200 more years. And I survived not having him yet. You will too."

What? OH YEAH! She doesn't know that I just found my mate. On the spot she's sitting on.

"Yeah, well, about the whole 'mate' thing-" I'm interrupted as Seb walks back into the room, now in jeans and a t-shirt.

Not noticing my mom, he says "Look, Kennedy, I know it's really weird, but if we were chosen out of all the weres in the wold to be mates, then we really should-" and he notices mom.

All of our eyes are huge, and Mom's jaw is hanging open so far I'm surprised she didn't dislocate it.

Seb and I are both staring at her in panic, waiting for her reaction. Our eyes flicker to each other's and back. Then it comes.

"Cal!!!" she screams at the top of her voice, her voice so high-pitched it's a shriek.

Cal comes running into the room like a mad man, his eyes wild as he searches for Mom and the cause of her panic. Seeing her, he scoops her up into his arms, sitting on the bed and curling himself around her, burying his nose in her hair at her neck, trying to calm his wolf down. He already assessed the room and didn't detect a threat.

"What is it, Baby?" he murmurs into her neck, finally calming down.

She just points between us, speechless by it all. He looks up, his eyes narrowing.

"What did you two do?"

Apparently, Sabastian's wolf, being an Alpha to be, did not take too kindly to anybody looking at or speaking to his mate with anything but love and respect. Seb's eyes grow dark, signaling his wolf is close to the surface, and he pushes me behind him, growling fiercely at his father.

Overreact, much?

"That was so hot!" my wolf whispers. 'Now is not the time!" I mentally reply.

Cal blinks, looking astonished. He glances between us, and Seb growls again, the sound vibrating through his chest to mine, and he pushes me more securely behind him.

"You're kidding" Cal says. Less of a question, more of a dull statement.

Seb's eyes, still dark, narrow further, and he scowls fiercely at his father. "Mate!" he growls.

Cal blinks again. "I see." he says. He looks at my mother. "Now is the time for a freak-out" he says calmly.
