The soft humming of a fan was what met my ears when I first woke up. With a groan, I kicked the blankets off me and stretched. The mattress I was on was uncomfortable and only proved to make the bags under my eyes worse. Although, I still had to put up with it since the thought of sleeping on the ground wasn't all too pleasing.

Thinking of having another school day tomorrow and the day after made me grimace, but I still walked into the bathroom to get ready. My choice of clothing wasn't exactly what you called pretty, no. In fact, it was the complete opposite. I had ripped, baggy jeans and a decent shirt. However, I covered the shirt with a barf green sweater. To top it off, I wore a wig and thin, round glasses.

I winced in pain as I bent down to pick up my dirty clothes to put into the hamper. A fist sized bruise covered a small portion of my back and it hurt. Ignoring it, I got out of the bathroom and stumbled my way through the tight spacing in my apartment. I took an apple out of a basket and walked out of the apartment after grabbing my backpack. It matched my sweater, a bonus.

"Stupid Mark," I sighed out as I combed my fingers through the tangled hair of the wig. "Can't keep a careful watch on his friends, now can he."

With that said, I arrived at school rather quickly. As if I were some sort of circus animal, people pointed at me and whispered. I grit my teeth but other than that, I did nothing. It was a normal occurrence and it shouldn't have annoyed me, but it did.

When I walked into my first period class, the first thing I noticed was my graffiti covered desk. I blatantly ignored it and yawned while making my way to my seat. It was mathematics and I wasn't fond of the class.

"Mary, how are you!" Someone shouted in glee. I smacked my head onto my table none too lightly and cursed in my head. I heard a small snicker from somewhere in the back of the class but decided to pay it no attention.

"I'm doing fine, Markus," I forced a grin. His smile literally radiated warmth and warmth was a huge no for me because Markus was bad news. "How about you?"

"I'm doing great, but I have soccer practice after school and a meeting with a few people," he informed cheerfully. I nodded my head and tried not to fall asleep as he went on with his schedule. Once he was finished, I rubbed my eyes and stretched once again.

"You should take a seat, Markus," I told him in a bored tone. When he didn't move, I looked up to see him giving my table a funny look. I internally groaned because that look meant that he was going to worry his head off for me.

"Mary, what happened to your desk, who did this?" Markus inquired. I rolled my eyes but didn't answer him and he put his hands on his hips.

'Like a mother, huh,' I humored myself. After a long silence, I decided to examine him. His bangs were in his face and soft brown eyes bore into my own. The clothes he was wearing would surely make any girl blush because I'm not going to deny it, he was hot.

"Mary, who did this?" Markus questioned once again. This time, though, I answered him.

"I don't know Markus," I drawled out and shrugged. He narrowed his eyes and I was wondering why the bell hadn't rung yet. Clearly, it was time for class by now?

"I'll figure it out sooner or later," he huffed in annoyance before sitting down in his own seat in the back of the class. At that time, the bell decided to ring.

'Even the bell decides to stall for him' I mused and narrowed my eyes at the paper that hit the back of my head. I picked it up after it bounced off my head and opened it. Such pleasing words were inside and I scoffed.

"Meet me at the back of school, they say," I mocked in a shrill voice under my breath. "As if."

With that last thought, class started and I began writing down answers in my notebook as the teacher called roll while simultaneously writing down problems on the board. It was definitely going to be a long day.
