"Where are we?" the girl in a white dress asked. She had the most wonderful eyes, blue like the deepest ocean. I looked down at her. "Somewhere you'll never forget". I smiled to her and to my surprise she smiled back. She would indeed never forget what she was about to see.
My home. A place so wonderful and terrifying at the same timer. Loved by many but cared for by few. If there was magic on this planet, it would definitely be here. In the ocean.
I ran up the cliff to show her the most beautiful view onto the sea one could ever have. She was close behind me, only a few steps away. As we both reached the top we remained silent for a short moment. She gasped in awe as the sun kissed her skin. I hoped it was a sign. Maybe she was indeed the help we needed. Water and air, the two essential fluids on which all life depends, had become garbage cans of humanity and they wouldn't be able to suffer for any longer.
Grabbing her hand I made a step forward to the water. She stood still. Maybe she was scared or just confused of what my actions were going to be. I nodded lightly, giving her the reassurance she needed. "Trust me" I said, only a few inches away from the waves meters below us. Taking in a sharp breath, we jumped. I smiled like an idiot as we hit the water. I felt comfortable again.
The shocked look on her face told me that I had transformed in my original state again. As we dived deeper into the wet around us, her expression changed. That's what I'd hoped for. We swam trough reefs and less exciting places and it was the same everywhere. Our problem was real. Plastic bags floated around us, leaving no place to see what would be in front of us. They were designed to last for a few minutes, the material they were made of on the other hand, made to last forever. The people had needed the plastic André now they and everything else was beginning to drown in it. It had become normal for me. A ray in the sea, confronted with plastic. Many of my friends and family had died of that cause. And I wanted her to know. She was the only one I believed could make a change, and she would.
Her name was Conscience. She would save the world one day.
