I sulked through the rest of my morning classes. They didn't completely suck, but they weren't exactly a day at the beach. Anyway, I was on my way to my locker and I spotted Emily waving frantically at me. I hurried towards our lockers. "Are you CRAZY?!" I whispered harshly. She made a face of mock hurt. "Me? Never!" she exclaimed laughing. You aren't proving yourself. "Did you forget, Cammikins?" I hate that nickname. Wait, what did I forget? "Uhhhh..." She gasped, " We have lunch with Ryder and friends!" I instantly panicked as soon as I heard Ryder. "Oh My Gosh! Do I look okay?" I urged, attepting to straighten out my pink Pac Sun blazer. Emily graabbed my hands. "Calm down, Cam. You look fine." We laughed at my over- reacting state. "You ready?" she asked with a sympathetic smile. What's the worse that could happen? I grabbed her hand and strutted down the hallway, confidently.
We abruptly stopped outside the cafeteria doors. Emily peeped through the glass window. "Okay, whatever you do, do NOT choke," she said to me, putting her hands on my shoulders. "I don't choke!" I protested. She laughed and pulled me inside. I didn't have to wonder what she meant- it was true. She let go of my hand and bounced over to their table. Darn, I have to go now. I nonchalantly walked over to the table. As soon as Ryder noticed i was there he shot up. "Hey Cammie." A huge grin was plastered on his face, making me blush. "Hi Ryder." Jason, his best friend slide over a seat. "Sit here Cammie," Ryder said patting on the hard seat. I hesitated before sitting next to him. There was an awkward silence until Josh, Ryder's best friend, chimed in. "What's up you guys? I'm Josh." His smile was friendly and he seemed like he genuinely cared. "I'm Cammie," I said back. "He looked over to my friend. "Oh! I'm Emily." She blushed madly. She has a crush! As the two began to have there own conversation, Ryder taped my shoulder. "Hey, I'm sorry for earlier. Matthew and Christian wanted to play and Matt threw it too..." "It's fine," I said, cutting him off. His tense shoulders relaxed and he pecked me on the cheek. "Good." "Umm, I don't...nevermind." Ugh, the choking has started. "Tell me." His hazel eyes were full of curiousity as he tried to understand me. "It's just that...I don't know what to talk about with you," I stated, looking at the lunchroom floor to hide my face. He laughed. "Well, maybe we should talk more often." I looked up at him. "Really?" He cocked his head to the side. "Yeah, you seem cool and you're really pretty." "Thanks." We stared at each other for what seemed like forever. Then, someone across the lunchroom screamed. We snapped our heads in that direction. Ryder's friend came running. "Hey guys! Sorry I'm late!" I groaned out load. Emily slowly turned her head my way and burst into a fit of giggles. It was Kevin. We've been enemies since 4th grade, when he poured chocolate milk on my head. Josh got up and attempted to trip Kevin. We all laughed as he looked up from the floor with mashed potatoes on his face. Christian high fived Josh as Emily flirtatiously giggled. Payback sucks, huh? Kevin got up and grabbed a napkin off our table. "You guys suck." He glared at me while turning his face into an evil smirk. "Well, well, well. If it isn't Geekarella? How's it going?" he asked, pushing me over to take a seat. "Great, now that you're here," I mumbled, sarcastically. The guys at the table snickered as my mouth turned up into a smirk. He grabbed me by my shirt. "Listen, I know we don't like each other, but you don't have to act like a..." He never got the sentence out.
