Meanwhile back in Fernfield, Kali, the Recess gang and Buddy and Molly were still searching for the Buddies and Tchaikovsky. They all met up in the park together.

"Any sign of them?" Buddy asked the group.

"No" the others frowned and shook their heads in dismay.

"We can't find them anywhere" Gus mentioned.

"Why wouldn't we?" Spinelli told him in sarcasm and a bit of annoyance. "It's been nearly 2 weeks and they're all still nowhere in sight!"

"It's like trying to find a needle in a haystack" Vince commented.

"Scientifically speaking, you're not wrong" Gretchen told him.

"Oh, Buddy, what are we going to do?" Molly frowned to her mate. "We've looked everywhere"

"We can't give up guys" Kali told her friends.

"She's right" Mikey added. "They're our friends"

"We have to think of something" TJ added, refusing to give up on the pups.

Just then, Miss Mittens came strolling over to the group.

"Hello, Miss Mittens. How are you today?" Molly greeted the grouchy cat first.

"I've been looking for you for days" the sassy mouthed cat started.

Spinelli just groaned. "What do you want, sour-puss? We don't have all day"

"You better teach B-Dawg to behave" Miss Mittens looked very firm to Buddy and Molly, angry. "Your pup was chasing my kitten again"

"Wait! You mean you saw him?" Vince asked, looking surprised.

"Was Tchaik and the other Buddies with him?!" Kali added anxiously.

"Where, and when?!" Mikey also added in an anxious manner.

"Not too long ago, breaking into the ice cream truck" Miss Mittens explained. "That pup's gonna end up in a dog pound, you mark my words" she added.

Just then, the gang looked to see the ice cream truck making its rounds.

"Look!" Buddy pointed out to the group.

The others all turned around and saw a tiny football positioned on the back of the truck.

"Budderball!" Everyone exclaimed.

The truck soon took off and Kali, the recess gang, and Buddy and Molly ran after it, following it all the way down to the airport. They soon arrived at the airport and checked the ice cream crate that had been loaded into the airplane.

"Are you sure they could be here?" Gus asked his friends.

"There's only one way to find out" TJ turned back to Gus, before opening the door to the crate and Buddy came inside first.

"Puppy prints" the golden retriever father said, noticing the puppy paw prints on the floor of the crate.

"They've been in here" Kali confirmed.

The others all came into the crate to have a look around, not noticing the man outside who didn't see them and closed the door.

"Uh-oh!" the Recess gang said, knowing now they were locked in and had no idea where they were going.

Kali soon looked out the window, thinking about her pup as she whispered. "I'm coming, Tchaik..."

Back in Alaska, late that night~

Shasta woke up to the sound of howling coming from the mountains and went to wake up the others.

"Guys, wake up" Shasta whispered to the Buddies and Tchaikovsky, coming into the shed. "Talon is calling us"

The pups all woke up hearing Talon's howling and snuck out to go meet with him. The eight puppies came out and soon met their mentor up on the top of the hill.

"I called on you tonight because there is one last thing I need to teach you pups" Talon informed to the pups. "Look up"

The pups did so and looked to see many colorful lights dancing across the sky.

"It's so beautiful" Wonder was in awe, standing next to Tchaikovsky.

"I'll say" Tchaikovsky smiled, moving in close to his puppy crush.

"What is it?" Mudbud asked.

"That is Aurora Borealis. The northern lights" Talon explained. "They're the spirit of all your ancestors. Including your parents, Shasta"

"Now, pups, I must say goodbye" he told the pups.

"What do you mean goodbye?" Tchaikovsky now looked confused.

"The race is tomorrow" Rosebud said to Talon.

"I've taught you all you need to know" Talon replied.

"But I've never led a race before" Shasta said, becoming nervous.

"Shasta, you are ready to take your place in your long line age of the great Alaskan lead dogs" Talon told the husky pup confidently.

"But we'll be all alone" Budderball said.

"Yeah, why do you have to leave us now?" Wonder frowned.

"Yeah, wise dawg, Budderball and Wonder got a point" B-Dawg agreed. "How do you know we'll be cool?"

"When you feel doubt, these lights will remind you that you're never really alone" Talon advised the pups.

"But how can you know for sure?" Tchaikovsky asked the wise old husky.

"Sometimes you just have to have faith" Talon said to him, then headed off towards the edge of the hill where the Northern lights were the closest. He turned back towards the pups to say his goodbye.

"Goodbye" Rosebud and Wonder both said softly and sadly.

"We'll sure miss you" Budderball and Tchaikovsky frowned.

"Hang loose, sir" Mudbud added.

"Maximum respect" B-Dawg commented.

"Namaste, Zen sled master" Buddha bowed.

"Thank you, Talon" Shasta concluded, looking to the legendary husky with great respect. "We'll never forget you"

Talon smiled back to the pups before suddenly, he disappeared within the lights like some kind of spirit. Almost like how Mufasa appeared in the clouds to Simba, Kali and the adventure kids to give them guidance.

Just like the legend of Talon said: "When he passes the northern lights will shine brighter than ever before"

The pups had soon come back to the shed to sleep. B-Dawg had woke Rosebud up, along with Tchaik and Wonder to talk.

It was soon revealed that all the pups were scared about tomorrow, but they knew they were gonna have to race. For Shasta.
