What most people don't know about Dave Strider is that behind those shades and stoic stare there is a teenage boy. He has feelings but not even his best friend John knows about them. His brother, Dirk, didn't know much about what Dave was feeling either.

Dave walked into the apartment. His older brother, Dirk, was watching the newest episode of MLP on the couch. Dave slipped into the kitchen hoping to get into his room before Dirk saw him. But of course that never worked.

"How was school lil man?" Dirk asked,

"Boring." Dave lied,

"What's wrong?"

"Wrong? What do ya' mean?" Dave asked, 'Oh my crap bro!' Dave screamed in his head.

"Come here, now." Dave sighed and walked over to the couch. Dirk paused what he was watching and looked at his younger brother. Dave stood there holding broken shades. His right eye was blackened and his lip was bleeding. He has scrapes and bruises all down his arms and hand marks on his throat. And Dirk would bet money that if he striped Dave that his whole body would look just like his arms. Dirk also saw something he hadn't seen for a long time. Dave had a few stray tears in his eyes. Dirk sighed and stood up.

"Come on." He said as he walked to the bathroom. Dave followed him. Dirk got out the first aid kit and sat on the floor with his legs crossed. Dave walked in.

"Come here." Dirk said, Dave went and sat on his lap. Dirk took off his shades and examined Dave's harms further. "What happened to start the fight?"

"They found out... About my eyes."

"Kicked their @____ right?" Dave fell silent. The one thing in the world that Dave hated more then himself was disappointing his brother. Dirk sighed, he took hold of Dave's right wrist and Dave hissed in pain. Dirk could see tears rolling down Dave's cheeks. Dirk wrapped his wrist up with an arm brace that makes it impossible to move his wrist. He then wrapped up Dave's left arm in gauze after washing any blood. He also wrapped up Dave's forehead where it looked as though he got hit with a brick. Dirk wrapped his arms around his little brother and sighed. "I'm singing you up for judo." Dave just snickered and curled up to his brother, tears not as frequent but still present.
