"Just breathe, you're going to be ok. I'm not letting you go."

"Nate, she needs to get into the ambulance van."

"I'm not leaving her. She has stood by my side since we were kids and im not about to leave hers."

"Quin needs help, go with her. Don't just let her bleed out."

A jolt of energy like electricity runs through my veins and causes my body to jump from my sleep.

"Quin! The farrier will be here soon, please get up." I hear come from downstairs.

"Yeah woman, get out of bed. Your assistance is needed." Another voice adds

I place my hand over the front of my hip and feel the scar tissue, I always struggle re-living that moment. My heart is racing as I swing me legs out of bed and scramble to find jeans and a t-shirt.

"Coming, just give me 2 minutes!"

I pull myself together and slip into acceptable clothing just before racing downstairs.

"Why can't you get ready that quickly when we go out?"

"I'm sorry I put in extra effort when we go out to meet people, Jamie."

I have two roommates, Jamie and Piper. I have been friends with these two for years and we met through the rodeo. I have been in the rodeo since I was a kid and as I got older and entered more events, I met Jamie. Jamie isn't a rider but she is a vet and looked after the welfare of the cattle involved in most rodeos. We hit it off after we snuck into someones horse trailer together to save a mistreated pony. Later down the track, we ran into this chick who was insanely up herself and wore those shirts with the tassels. I cut off the tassels of one of her shirts for being a cow and she stole my boots... best mates ever since except when we compete against each other and her name is Piper.

"Well Piper is already outside, she doesnt seem happy."

"Funny that, I dont think I can remember her ever genuinely smiling."

Both Jamie and I laugh to ourselves as I quickly grab a glass. As I walk to the tap to fill it up, I notice Jamie's face glaring at me with worry.

"You ok?" I ask a I take a drink from the glass.

"I was going to ask you that same question. I heard you struggling in bed this morning before you woke up, is it that dream again?"

"It happened 3 years ago, you think it wouldn't worry me anymore."

Jamie takes a seat at the kitchen bench.

"That event changed not only your whole lifestyle but also the lifestyle of Piper and I. Of course it's still effecting you."

I look down to the ground after noticing the concerned look return to Jamies face.

"Quin! Get out here!" Jamie and I hear echo from the paddocks.

"Well duty calls." I say as I smile and place down my glass.

"Just take it easy, smartass."

I run to the door and slip on my boots as I see Piper holding her horse, Blaze, while the farriers ute comes up the driveway.

"Can you talk to Kip while I tie Blaze to her stable please?" Piper says with an annoyed tone as she walks to the stables.

She has never really been a people person which irritates me considering I'm a huge extrovert.

The ute pulls up beside the house and I can see Kip's smiling face as he turn the engine off.

"There's my favourite customer!" He yells as he jumps out of the car and makes his way towards me. This guy has to be one of the happiest guys i ever met.

"I didn't go anywhere but it is very nice to see your smiling face too, Kip." He pulls me in for a hug but suddenly stops due to a loud whistle coming from the stables.

"Piper in an upset mood again?" Kip cocks an eyebrow.

"You act as if she has any other mood."

We both smile and continue to the back of his ute. I then carry a few tools to Piper and Blaze as Kip backs his car up to the stable enterance and gets set up.

"Well I'm sorry but I'm going to love you and leave you. I have a very important appointment with Jamie which I need to get ready for." I then receive a very annoyed glare from Piper knowing I'm leaving a very talkative, happy person with a very shy and anxiety ridden person.

"Alright well we need to catch up sometime." Kip says while picking up Blazes front right hoof.

"As always."

I head back towards the house and notice Jamie through the kitchen window cleaning. I walk towards the back door which I came out of to meet her at the kitchen bench.

"You ready?" I ask as she puts dishes away.

"Do I look ready to you? Give me 10 and I will meet you outside." She says as she dusts off her hands.

Jamie runs upstairs as I head outside and go grab my horse, Neo. I quickly saddle him up and by the time I'm ready Jamie has come out the back door.

"You took your time." I say as I place my foot in the stirrup and jump into the saddle.

"Hey, Rome wasn't built in a day."

She grabs her keys to the quad and we head out to the back of our property.

We ride for about 10 minutes and reach the main water supply for our cattle, the creek.

"Right well im going for swim." I say as I swing my leg over Neo's back.

"Agreed."

As we both jump into the water I notice something very... unexpected.

"Uhh Jamie?"

"Yes."

I look down to her chest which she is in a now very soaked white shirt.

"Why are you not wearing a bra?"
