"Hello? Who's there?" He heads toward the dark hallway that lead to the scuttling noises, making it known that he was not alone. He had woken up to the clicking of the front door closing and whispers right outside of his bedroom. He checks the clock of 3:38 a.m. and grabs his favorite leather jacket. He walks slower but his heart beats faster and faster with each step.
"Huh?" He mumbles to himself. He quickly turns his head just to see a silhouette running down the stairs. His curiosity to see this person's identity grew as the anonymous individual ran closer to the front door. He quickly grabs a knife from the kitchen and pillow from the living room couch to defend himself. He runs out the door and looks around the driveway. The early winter morning greets him with strong winds and low temperatures.
"Ah... As if my cold wasn't already bad enough." He whispers to himself, a sniffle quickly following. He looks around the front lawn and driveway ready for anything that might come his way. Just as he was about to give up, he hears the bushes rustling beside him just a few feet away. He approaches the bushes with the tension so thick he can cut it with a knife, and the vibe so dark he couldn't see a thing.
1... 2... 3...
"AHH!" The person screams, stumbling backward and falling on his butt. "Aish! You scared the crap out of me!" Slowly putting the knife down, Hyung-min held out his free hand to help the poor guy up, realizing who he is.
"Dae-hyun? What the hell are you doing here at 3:40 in the morning?" He asks looking down at his manager. Dae-hyun sits down on the cold concrete ground and looks up at him with a disappointed pout.
"Hey, did you forget that we're childhood best friends? I always come to you even when it's not work-related." He put his hand over his heart and then felt his pulse.
"I came over to have a few shots of alcohol. I came back from the bar and felt tipsy but thanks to that scare of yours, I feel sober. Thanks a lot..."
Hyung-min suddenly became concerned and sat down next to his friend. "Why are you drinking? I thought you quit."
"Eun-ji and I broke up. No drama though... We just needed some time to ourselves."
Hyung-min hesitated to say something. But he chose not to say anything but pat his friend's back and cough making it known that he needed rest.
"Oh right, I forgot you had a cold. Sorry..."
"It's fine" He replied, getting up and walking to the door. "Besides, if I'm still sick by the end of this week, I have no work. Haha-..." Hyung-min stopped and looked at the front door. A note that has been taped on... A note that he's been getting for weeks, maybe months. He lost count. He also didn't want to know. The notes always started out as a regular letter but the more of the letter he reads, the more terrified he gets. The letters aren't sent to the company or given at a fansign but instead sent straight to his own home. He opens the envelope and unfolds the letter.
Dear my forever love,
I've noticed you've gotten all of my letters. Thank you for that. I also noticed that you've read all of them. Thanks for that too. But what makes me sad is that you've never replied to them or noticed me. I'm always there for you... You are my other half, my eternal love. My heart belongs to you and you only. I will be your forever companion. I will walk beside you forever. My reasons for this is that my heart aches for you and only you. I will forever serve and worship you. Your smile lights the dark path that was my life before I met you. I do not want to give you away to anybody else. You are for me and me only. I also saw you with a girl a few days ago... Who is she to you? I do not appreciate you hurting my feelings like that. But I don't feel hurt anymore. The idea that you are mine will be known across the world so no one can take you away from me. That girl is the first to know. I met her yesterday and had a very nice chat with her. I found out her name is Lilly and I don't think you'll be seeing her for a little while. You might think that's bad but think of the good things. You have more time to spend with me. I also forgot that you might not even know my name. You'll find out soon. More bad news, this will be my last letter. More good news, I'm coming to see you. We'll finally meet and be in each other's arms. I delivered a little present as a token of my appreciation for reading my letters over the past few months. Thank you, Hyung-min... Thank you for everything you have done for me... I love you...
From your other half and soulmate
As he finished the last sentence, the letter in his hands trembled. Dae-hyun peers over his shoulder and his eyes widen, aghast of what is written.
"Let's go talk about this inside..."
Hyung-min opens the door and walks toward the couch. They both sit down and put the letter on the coffee table.
"Hold on, let me get the other letters." He gets up and goes toward his bedroom
"And you have them why?"
"I was saving them for police evidence just in case..." He replies
"You and your superstitions... But in this case, you might be right."
"I'm always right Dae-hyun" He flashes a cocky smile
Despite the events, Hyung-min still manages to make things bright which made Dae-hyun smile along with him. He returns with a small tattered box and opens the cover to reveal hundreds of letters more disturbing than the next. But what happened next was terrifying as hell...
"Oh, man holy sh*t..." Dae-hyun whispers. Both of their eyes full of horror, move from the coffee table, up the t.v and finally landing on the wall.
I will forever be with you my love
From your other half, Felicia
But that wasn't even the worst part... The sentence... The sentence was written in
"Blood... It's written in blood... oh my god..." Hyung-min's voice trembled
"That's it. This has gone too far." Dae-hyun whips out his phone and dials a number unknown to Hyung-min
"What are doing? Who are you calling? The police?" He asks
"No, the police don't need to be dragged into this. It'll cause too much attention. I have someone else who deals with this kind of stuff."
"You have someone who deals with psychopaths on speed dial?"
"Of course, after that airport incident last month, I contacted an old friend of mine and asked for some help."
"Old friend? Who?" He questioned
"No one important" Dae-hyun replies quickly. "Hey, it's me. We've got ourselves a little problem for you to deal with. Send the team in... whoever they are. They have a week or else..." There was a slight pause
"Ok, got it. Tell them to come at 10:00 am. 6 hours to prepare, that's more than enough. Bye"
"Who's coming? What team?" He plops on the couch in disbelief of what's happening
"You'll see..."Case #1
