The way his roots squirmed through the ground
Slowly, kindly, considerately, without a sound.

Every grain saw him coming, he gave plenty of notice
Carefully sliding by, treating each one as if it were a lotus.

These dominating roots were set into motion
Nourished and cultivated by his pure devotion.

It shows now as the tree stands proud and tall
Kindness and love hang from every bough.

The tree now grown, once small and afraid
Provides to anyone who needs its shelter of shade.

The tree keeps their secrets and holds their trust tightly
It reaches out to anyone, its offer stands nightly.

The tree embraces and arms all those who enter
So they can rejoin the world with love as their center.

If only all the world could grow as this tree once did
Being kind, gentle, considerate, as loving as a kid.

This world would know no hatred or intolerance
This tree would have the world as its audience.

And all who bear witness and learn from his example,
Would lead lives where love, hope, and joy are ample.
