Nana's POV
School was starting up again, unfortunately. It was going to be my last year in high school and I was really going to try to make the best of it but.. this year just seemed like it wasn't going to go well. I wasn't exactly sure why, I just had this feeling.
"This is going to suck. I hate school." Evanie said. She had come to live with my family because she wanted to have a change of atmosphere. She lived in the same town since she was born and she wanted to experience something different. It took a lot of convincing because her mom is really protective but in the end she agreed so Evanie has been here since summer vacation started.
My parents are your typical workaholics so they're always somewhere that isn't home. Most of the time they're overseas in Europe so it's really just like Evanie and I are living alone. I know I'm almost an adult being 17 and all but leaving your kid here to take care of herself is not a very parent-like thing to do. I guess it has it's perks but still.. I mean, I least I have my best friend with me now. That's a million times better than being alone.
"Something doesn't feel right." I told Evanie, trying to explain my uneasy feeling. "I feel like something is going to happen.."
Evanie's POV
Nana's been acting like this for a while. I think it started around the beginning of the month. School was getting closer and we were both agonizing the very few days we had left of summer vacation. I was just pissed that we were going to start school but she seems like.. weirder than usual.
"You know, maybe it won't be that bad. Remember how you told me you were going to make your last year different? Well, different is good but whatever feeling you're having is kind of like making it different in a bad way." I said, trying to at least get her to see that being pessimistic about it was only going to make it worse.
"Yeah I know but, I really can't shake the feeling. Maybe.. maybe it's not a bad thing but more like it's telling me something is going to happen?" I don't know. Let's just go out and get ice cream or something. I don't want to keep thinking about it~" she whined, well.. sort of.
"That sounds good! Let's go?" I asked. Ice cream sounded really good right now. "But you're buying!"
I yelled, trying to hold back a laugh.
"Ugh. Don't I have to pay anyway? What money do you have? 15 years olds can't have jobs, dummy." She said, making me pout. She could be mean sometimes.
"Heeey. At least I clean... sometimes." She just laughed and we headed out to the nearest ice cream store.
