Courtney woke up around eight; she deemed it an okay time to call her godmother.
"Hello?"
"Hi Mildred, its Courtney. Did you still want to spend the day together this morning?"
"Of course dear! I wouldn't miss it for the world. How about you and Emerson meet me down at this little café in about two hours? I can text you the address, and we can begin our day from there. How does that sound?"
"Absolutely perfect! I can't wait. See you soon!"
"Bye lovely girl, see you in a few!"
Courtney hung up with her godmother and opened the door to her room and walked across the hall. She knocked softly at first and then a little louder.
"Emerson! Time to wake up!" She heard some shuffling and then a groggy looking Emerson opened the door. Her eyes widened when she noticed he wasn't wearing a shirt but she shook her head and remembered why she was there. "Good morning sunshine!" She gave him a bright smile. "You have an hour and a half to get ready before we leave! I'll drive this time."
He grunted and gave a slight nod.
"Might I recommend a shower? That might wake you up." She laughed and returned to her room.
She shuffled through her suitcase and picked out a blush colored lace crop top, high waisted shorts and her signature white Converse shoes. She grabbed a set of underwear before she stepped into the bathroom. As she showered, she thought about how excited she was to be spending the day with Mildred. How wild was it that she just happened to find her godmother dining in the same restaurant as her and Emerson? She smiled to herself; this had her mom written all over it. Courtney would have to thank her later. Courtney dried herself off, got dressed and dried her hair. She curled it slightly and brushed through it to give it a wavy look. She put on blush colored studs in her ears and changed her nose ring to a small diamond as her finishing touch.
Her phone dinged signaling a text.
Good morning babe! Have a wonderful day today! I love you! ☺
She smiled at the sweet text from Hudson, typed a short response and headed out the door. Hopefully Emerson was almost finished getting ready.
He opened the door still wearing the tired expression on his face but he looked showered and was dressed in a pair of tan shorts and a white v neck t-shirt. He still hadn't put shoes on.
"Oh my goodness Emerson, how did I manage to get dressed quicker than you?" Courtney laughed as she entered his room.
"I fell asleep in the shower." He smiled. "I'm almost ready! You look nice by the way." He stepped back into his room pulling on socks and a pair of white vans slip ons.
"Thanks! So do you."
"Where are we meeting Mildred?"
"At this little café a couple of blocks away," she started walking down the hallway. "Hurry up! I'll drive."
"I'm coming."
At the café they spotted Mildred at a table near the window with a paper and pen.
"Mildred!" Courtney called out. Mildred looked up from her notebook and smiled widely at her goddaughter.
"Courtney, how are you my love?" She asked while gesturing them to take a seat.
"Wonderful, how're you?"
"Just peachy. Emerson, you're looking very awake this morning." Mildred's eyes crinkled in the corner from amusement.
