Camila loved to play sports. She was on the school's basketball team, and she was popular. Everyone thought of her as perfect, and she almost was. She always denied it though, because she believed that nobody was perfect, and is at least a little weird and quirky. No one's that perfect, and if anything, that's not what perfect should mean.
Lauren was one of the shy kids at school, known by only her friends and family, and tried to stay away from the crowd. She always had a small crush on Camila, but she always kept it as a secret because she didn't want people knowing she was gay. Camila, however, was openly bisexual. She was accepting, kind, wholesome, and everything Lauren wanted in a relationship. But of course, she was one of the most popular kids in their school, and was probably the most desirable for both guys and girls. She's never even dated anyone there, because she never wanted anyone to feel unwanted by her. She was pretty humble too, she never expressed how popular she was and denied it as much as possible. To be honest, she didn't even know why she was popular, either. She thought she was decent-looking, okay at basketball, and just genuinely nice, as all people should be.
Lauren's 'small crush' eventually developed into a bigger one, and she went to every one of Camila's games and cheered her on alongside her friends.
Lauren's POV
My friends and I, (Dinah, Ally, and Normani) are going to go to another one of Camila's games, and I think they're catching on that I like her. I know they're my friends and all, but I'm just scared of coming out, because at my last school, everyone was heterosexual and homophobic. I once mentioned something about a girl being really pretty, and I got outed completely, and we had to move. But I kinda think that maybe everyone will be accepting here. After all, Camila was bisexual, and everyone accepts her for it. Camila is just... amazing. I can't even explain how much I adore her and I can't even put it into words. I never really understood or cared about basketball before I saw Camila, but now I made sure to learn all the rules and how it worked, just for her.
No One's POVThe girls from the team were walking out of the locker room, and into the gym, where they were going to play. Camila had on that yellow signature snapback, wearing it backwards as always. She had her hair tied in a ponytail, and she was warming up with her teammates. Their jerseys were blue and yellow, and represented the school colors. The back of Camila's jersey said, "CABELLO" and underneath, "97". Lauren wanted to be able to wear that jersey to let everyone know she was Camila's, but that probably would never happen, in Lauren's opinion.
The game started, and Camila already managed to shoot 5 times, scoring 10 points for their team. It was 10-0, and Lauren couldn't be more proud. She knew her opinion didn't really matter at this point, but she was amazed at Camila's skill at the game. During the middle of the first quarter, Camila fell over pretty hard, but brushed it off as nothing and continued playing. Lauren could tell she was hurt by the way she ran, almost limping, but nobody else seemed to notice. She continued watching the game worriedly, seeing that Camila was actually hurt in her left leg. Camila was subbed out in the second corner, and sat on the bench with an ice pack against her leg. She looked up at the bleachers, scanning the crowd. She usually didn't do this, to not distract her from the game, but she decided to anyway since she was on the bench. She looked and saw so many people looking at her and only her, watching her every move. It almost pressured her, but she didn't let that stop her. Suddenly, her eyes meet with a pair of emerald eyes, and her heart beats harder in her chest. She brushes it off, and smiles softly, still making eye contact with the other girl. On Lauren's side, she was freaking out. Camila Cabello just looked at me and smiled! was all that went through her head. She started blushing immensely, and hid her face behind her sleeves so Camila wouldn't see (but she did). Camila chuckled softly, thinking the sight was adorable. Drinking her water, she focuses back on the game. They were already winning by 20, like always. Not to brag, but their team was in the top 3 of their district.
Camila's POV
The girl I saw earlier was one of the most prettiest girls I've ever seen. I could get lost just staring into her eyes, if I'm not careful. I see my coach write something down on her clipboard, and the buzzer rings, signaling half time. My leg felt a bit better, but everyone thinks it's okay, thankfully, because I just pretended it was nothing. I walk over to the water fountain to fill up my water bottle again, and wipe the sweat from my forehead. I scored my team about 4 regular shots and 3 from the 3-point line. Half-time for us was about 20 minutes, so I decided that I would try to talk got the girl I saw earlier. I put my hat back on, turning it around so it was backwards, and started walking up the bleachers towards the girl with the emerald eyes.
Lauren's POV
Oh my god— Camila is actually walking towards me! Is this happening?! Please tell me this is real.. she's coming closer! Oh my god she's actually walking towards me. "Hey, princess." She says to me, smiling. Dinah, Normani, and Ally walk away quickly, smirking at me with knowing looks. "U—Uhm.. Hi, uh, I mean hello." I managed to stutter out. I wanted to hide my face so she couldn't see me blushing, but there was no point 'cause she's right in front of me. "You don't need to be nervous around me, kay?" I just nod, smiling softly. "Sorry if this is weird, I just wanted to associate a name with a pretty face."ohmygod she just called me pretty! "I'm Lauren." I said, internally screaming. "Oh, that's a cute name, like you." She says, still smiling.
Camila's POV
I couldn't help but smile while looking at Lauren's face. She was so adorable and I just wanted to kiss her and.. just.. be with her. I know I don't know her yet, but I'm trying to at least get us to be friends first, hopefully. "Sorry, I couldn't help but come up to you, I thought it was adorable how you were trying to hide your face.." I say, chuckling. "Oh god you saw that... I'm sorry!" She says, still stuttering. "Hey, don't worry about it. I'll win this for you, alright?" She just nods, and her nervousness is slowly going away. "Thank you." She says softly. "Of course." I say, grabbing her hand and kissing it. I take my hat off my head, and put it on hers instead. I walk back down to the bleachers, and back towards my coach, who says I'm going to be in the next quarter.
I look back up at Lauren, and shoot a 3 pointer shot. Score! I high-five my teammates, and run back to the other side of the court to play defense.>>
It's finally the end of the game, and we won. All my team mates high five me, and Lucy, one of my teammates, lifts me up to sit on her shoulders. "Nice job out there, Cabello." Our coach says, fist-bumping me. While I was on Lucy's shoulders, she holds my hands to make sure I don't fall. "Lucy! Put me down!" I say, laughing. "Alright fine, Cami." She says, giggling. We high five, and she intertwines our fingers. I just look at her awkwardly as she smiles. I quickly hide my 'awkwardness' and smile back. I know Lucy's liked me ever since we met, and I'm not bragging or anything I swear, I've just known. It's kind of obvious, and I liked our bond, until I saw Lauren. Lauren was kind of.. different. She was adorable, shy, and I definitely want to get to know her. I pull away my hand and walk back up towards the bleachers, where Lauren was seated patiently. I think I saw her with some of her friends earlier, but they left when I arrived. Did they not like me? Now I feel bad, I made her friends go away. I must've done something wrong. I don't know, I'll ask Lauren. I walk back up the bleachers, and greet her.
No one's POV
Lauren looks up at Camila as she says, "Hey, Princess." while smiling. "Hey, Camila." Lauren says, smiling back. "Today I not only won it for myself, but I won the game just for you, Lauren." She says, looking at the cap on her head. My favorite girl in my favorite color. "Oh cool, you're still wearing the hat." "Do you want it back, or..?" "Oh no, you can keep it. It looks good on you." Well, anything would look good on you.. she mumbled quickly. "But you always wear this!" "Don't worry about it, just keep it." She didn't question how she knew that, she didn't want to make things awkward. "Oh, okay." Lauren says, nodding. "So, Lauren, I know this may sound random, but I wanna get to know you, and just, I don't know.. be your friend? Is that alright with you?" "Of course that's alright with me, Camila. I'm glad you came up to talk to me. I'm surprised actually, I thought you'd never notice me, to be honest.." "Hey, don't think like that. Who wouldn't notice those emerald eyes and pretty face? They're all blind if they don't see how amazing you are. And even though I don't know you all that well yet, you deserve the world, Lauren."I might actually make this into a book, because I really like the concept of it. And if I do, this will probably by the first chapter, and you could read it again or skip it, cuz I'll probably write a new one and just copy and paste this chapter anyway. Anyways, I really hope you guys enjoy reading this chapter, and have a marvelous morning, day, or, night. We love you all
