I grew up on a small farm in a small town in Texas, that was basically in the middle of no where. I spent most of my days there helping my father and two brothers with chores, while my two sisters would rather stay in our air conditioned home and cook with mother.
On my 19th birthday I moved to a quaint ranch just a few miles short of the Mexico border. Hollow Point ranch, was nothing out of the ordinary, and seemed like a great place to spend my time doing the things I love.
I pulled up to Hollow Point in my blue and white ford ranger pickup and went into the main house to find the owner and be informed where I would be lodging. "Hello! Welcome to Hollow Point Ranch! You must be (y/n)! I'm Dutch Van Der Linde, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance! I'll get one of my ranch hands to show you where you'll be staying." Dutch informed you on your duties whilst you waited for a man named Javier Escuella. "Javier! Hurry it up will ya! We don't want to keep (l/n) waiting!" Just as he finishes his words an average height man with dark hair walks in. You assume him to be Hispanic, due to his name and his looks. "Sorry to keep you waiting, my deepest apologies." He addressed to you. "Im in no hurry, Dutch was just telling me my jobs that I'll be doing. Am I right to assume you'll be taking me to where I'll be staying?" "Yes I am, right this way (miss/mister) (y/n)"
As we walked to the lodging I found out many things about Javier. He was born in Nuevo Paraiso, Mexico. He also worked on his uncle's land with his drunken father, before coming to the United States, and meeting Dutch.
As we arrived he showed me to my room, my roommate, a woman named Sadie Adler, was just a few months newer than me here and had just about the same jobs as me. Javier leaves me to get settled when Sadie walked in. " you must be (y/n) (l/n). It's great to have you here!" She said while walking in. "I am! You must be Sadie, I've heard so much about you! We are gonna get along just fine."
You spent the rest of your day receiving instructions from Sadie on your jobs and how to get them done efficiently and quickly. You quickly adjusted to your life on the ranch after a couple of weeks and started to become more comfortable with the other ranch hands. You met a few others throughout the weeks, a few of them being Arthur Morgan, Dutch's 'son', as well as John Marston another one of his 'sons'. From everyone you met, you quickly became good friends with Sadie and Javier, because of how frequently you all would see each other.
While one of the days of hard work was coming to an end, you decided to go spend a little bit of time inside the barn to pet and feed some of the horses. Beforeyou enter you hear a guitar playing a beautiful tune, while a familiar voice sang along in his native tongue. "Bésame mucho, bésame. Bésame mucho, como si fuera ésta noche, la última ves, Bésame, bésame mucho que tengo miedo a perderte....."
You listened to his song and felt happy. You enter the barn to see most of the ranch hands, and Dutch gathered around listening to Javier play the guitar and sing. When he finishes playing, you walk up to him and tell him "I never knew you played the guitar." "You never asked!" His response made you giggle which spread a smile across his face. "I play almost every night here and they all come and listen. You should come more often, it was fun having you here." He winks at you hinting at a little crush that he had for you, but you didn't quite pick up on it.
You return to your room and get ready for bed, as it was beginning to be very late. You laid in bed for a long time, but could not sleep because thoughts of Javier drifted through your mind. You hadn't noticed that Sadie entered the room as you were quietly humming the tune of the song that he played. You didn't realize you had begun to do this until Sadie asked you if you liked his song, her answer already known. " you know, I think he likes you." She says slyly. "Oh, well, I don't think so. I may like him, but I'm sure that it is not a mutual thing." You reply, his smile playing on repeat in your imagination. "I don't think so, heard him talking about you earlier today. It's clear as day he likes you (y/n)!"
"Well if you say so." You say shyly. You really hoped that he did like you, your feelings growing even more for that handsome man. You finally fall asleep, thoughts of him still lingering in your mind. You wake up in the morning feeling happier than usual as you made your way downstairs for breakfast. As you grab your food you notice Javier at a table, and you decide to sit next to him. You both sit in silence while you eat the majority of your food. Javier breaks the silence, " you know, she right." "What, who?" You were confused as to what he was talking about, you hadn't talked to anyone this morning before breakfast. "Sadie, she right about me liking you." He added as you sipped some of your orange juice. As he finished his sentence you choke a little, astonished to how he would've known about your conversation with Sadie that night. " you heard us?" You questioned, suddenly feeling embarrassed as to what you revealed to Sadie. "Of course I did. She isn't the quietest person. Did you forget i room right next to the both of you?" Your face blushes, which makes Javier smile. "Here come with me." He tells you while holding out his hand to lead you with him. He leads you to a little opening right outside the ranch and sits down, gesturing you to sit next you him. You do so and lay your head on his shoulder.
The two of you talked for what felt like minutes, which had really been hours when he finally turns to you and pulls you into a tender kiss. " you have no idea how long I've waited to do that since you've got here." Your face feels warm, and instead of answering him you kiss him again. He deepens the kiss, while you feel that a smile slowly starts to form on his face. Man, you were so glad that you decided to become a ranch hand at Hollow Point. You met the greatest guy.
