The young male stepped nervously onto the porch of an average family sized home right on the edge of town. The young man named Hunter was dressed smartly as he prepared himself for the job interview. Hunted is a nurse in desperate need of a high paying flexible job. With his young niece left in his care, he had left the hospital he was working at and is on the hunt for a live-in nurse job that supports himself and his niece.
The front door swung open and he was greeted by a grinning young woman. She welcomed him into the living room after introducing herself as Lisa. In the living room, there was an older woman most likely being Lisa's mother. Hunter assumed that he would be taking care of Lisa's grandmother or grandfather, the typical cases.
"So we are in need of a live-in nurse that would be here almost 24/7." She started as she read through his resumé.
"We need someone to assist with bathing occasionally and shopping, cooking, transport may be other things I'm missing." She rambled on and looked to her mother who only nodded.
Lisa asked simple questions that Hunter could easily answer. Hunted had prepared himself many times for the next part, the part that would cost him the position.
"I would like to make a request if I did get the job," he said quite softly mentally preparing himself for them to tell him no and not hire him. "I have a young niece that has been placed in my care if I was hired she would need to live with me in the house." He looked at them as both of them looked quite surprised before Lisa grinned.
"Oh Adriana loves children, I'm sure she wouldn't mind and there is more than enough space." The mother also smiled and nodded. The two of them looked at each other and then back at Hunter who nervously played with a threat on his button-up shirt.
"You're hired," Lisa said and Hunter whipped his head up to look her in the eye to see if she was joking. Her eyes show how serious she is and Hunter couldn't stop the relieved smile from tugging onto his lips. This had been his last interview, if this one didn't work he would have gone and looked for a job at a hospital and had to hire a nanny.
"Thank you very much." He said as Lisa started rummaging through her bag and pulled out a file Hunter recognized. It was a hospital file. Lisa extended it to him and followed.
"This is her medical history file so that you are informed of what is the situation at hand. You can start in two days from now also moving in in two days from now. We will be flying back to Carolina in two days leaving Adriana in your care." She said as Hunter took the file and stood up with Lisa and her mother.
"But I am giving you a fair warning Hunter, Adriana is not the nicest at the moment and will probably bite your head off for trying to help, but just so you know she does have a heart somewhere. It's just a little lost at the moment, just don't give up on her easily." Hunter nodded and promised himself no matter how bad it is working here, he would make sure Emma, his niece, is happy and safe with a warm bed and a full stomach at night.
Hunter smiled and bid the two women goodbye before beginning his long drive to his parent's house where he would pick up his niece.
Today has been stressful but now Hunter could relax, read Lisa's grandmother's file, cuddle with Emma, and start packing for his next chapter in life.
