It's 7:30 and I hear the whistle blow, the game has started. Sarasota is crowded as usual. Pushing threw the crowd of new freshman I see my friends sitting in a circle up on the last bleacher. Almost there when I can here my name being called. Stopping dead in my tracks I close my eyes. That voice, I know that voice... BAM it hit my harder than a brick!

CASSY!!!

Before I have the chance to even open my eyes to get away I can feel hands wrap around my waist, hugging me so tight yet so gentle. I could smell the familiar aroma of sweet vanilla that makes my knees weak. I could feel myself starting to shake. I had to push her hands off of me before I pass out. My heart was thumping and I could feel it threw every part of my body. Starting to walk again but I was shortly cut off.

"Hi Mark!"

I look down at my over lapped feet so I wouldn't have to see her face.

"Hey"

I could feel my cheeks burning and I knew I was probably red in the face.

Cassy noticed I wasn't looking at her because she took her hand and gently pulled my head up so that my eyes met hers. Her intense blue eyes sparkled in the faded arena lights. She was smiling so big showing off Those lips I always loved so much. It felt as if in the moment of time when her hand was on my face the world had stopped. Woken out of my day dream of what seemed like forever but was only within a span of 4 seconds by the sensation ok Cassy's hand being jerked off of me.

"Don't touch her!"

I herd yelling. I soon come to realized it was Ashton my best friend. Ashton put his arm around me.

"Hey you okay?" He said, but I said nothing in return because my mouth still felt stitched together like a rag doll, and my feet glued to the floor, and my throat so dry like it had shriveled up and I some how choked on it the same way I do with my words. I became very aware that my face had been drained of all color because I had no feeling accept for the lingering sensation of a light tingling on the exact spot where her fingers were. I look up to see the confusion written on Cassy's face.

"Mark..." Cassy says softer than normal. "Obviously she doesn't want to talk to you!" Ashton shouted. "But.." Cassy was interrupted by Ashton "no"

"I know Mark hates me but please just let me talk to him..."

I hesitated, but finally built up the courage to speak. "I don't hate you" I said. Cassy's eyes filled with tears.

"Oh stap it you big wuss" Ashton shouted with his mouth full of pretzel. "Ash I got this okay?"

"You sure?" "..yeah"

Ashton snickered at Cassy as he walked back up to greet Catlyn.

"I'm going to fill my water bottle up you have the walk there and back to tell me what it is that's so important." "Okay thank you"

"Yeah.."

"Mark.. Please forgive me..."

I scoffed "what's going to happen after I forgive you? You're going to be happy because you won again? I fall back into your trap and then you go right back into treating me horrible? Yeah.. Screw that!"

"No!!!" Cassy screams

"It's the same thing every time Cassy!"

"No I mean it this time I changed"

"People don't change, it's who you are"

"I did but you won't even give me a chance"

"Because I don't believe you Cassy!!"

I reached for my water bottle and started filling it up. It's fairly dark and there isn't anybody around. Out of the corner of my eye i watched as Cassy leaned against the wall and slid down and tuck her face between her knees. When the bottle was full I set it down next to the fountain. Silently I sat next to her, listening to her heavy sobbing.

"Hey" I said

She remained sobbing

"Cassy.."

Still nothing

"C-c-cass"

She chuckled a little

"Look at me" I whispered

Nothing

I lightly swung my shoulder into hers bumping her a little

"Lookkk att meee" I whispered

Cassy peeked one of her eyes out. Taking one of my hands I guided her head up. Her face was flushed and mascara running down her cheeks and her bright blue eyes even bluer because of the tears. For a second I got lost in them, and I couldn't find

The strength to look away. Cassy laid her head on my shoulder. "Mark..i.?"

"Hmm?"

"I miss you" her voice was so shaky.

"You don't miss me, you miss the idea of me"

"What do you mean..?"

"I mean you miss being in control. You miss the way I loved you, you miss knowing that I would have done anything for you, you miss how I treated you like a princess, how I made you stuff, bought you stuff, called you beautiful, you miss the fact that I would constantly be there for you no matter what, you miss the idea of being able to push me around, tell me off, and ignore me with the comfort of knowing I wouldn't do a damn thing about it. I'd still hang around you, I'd put up with it, I wouldnt leave, and I still loved you just the same. I could go on and on but the most important is the fact that you miss not being alone because you said yourself and I quote I've lost every one and everything. Everybody left, and I wonder why Cassy. You don't miss ME you miss the IDEA of me, because I'm pretty sure if you met somebody else who treated you exactly the same as I did you wouldn't even hesitate to drop me. You wouldnt care, you wouldn't fight for me like you are now. As long as you're getting the attention it doesn't matter who it's from."

"Stop!!" She screams

"Why should I? Huh? Does it hurt?? I'm only telling you the truth... Hurts doesn't it?" I stood up looking down at her who again is weeping with her face tucked away.

"Maybe now you can start to understand just how I felt. Maybe just maybe you can finally start to understand the burning of my throat, and the sinking of my heart, and the bursting of my lungs when you told me you never loved me." Burning with anger I turned around and kicked the water bottle I had sitting on the cold concrete as hard as I could, and started walking back. I took one last glance at Cassy crying on the ground. Tears come streaming down my face as I left her there in the dark alone to cry.

I clinch my jaw as tight as I could without breaking my teeth, but still somehow my words escaped from the little cracks I wasn't able to close.

"I miss you too" I mumbled under my breath.
