Joelee.
At first, she was merely someone you'd vowed to protect but after a while you began to call your her friend. But neither of you had really called each other your friend.
It wasn't until you decided to try and get a job at a local deli that she called you her friend. You could tell the story word for word.
On your first day a rather rude customer came in. She was loud and valued her own opinions. You'd been warned about her previously but now coming face to face with her you realized that the stories didn't do the rude woman justice.
" Give me a turkey and ham sandwich but add bacon instead of turkey." The woman snaps.
" So...you want a ham and bacon sandwich?" You ask slowly.
" Are you deaf?! I said a turkey and ham sandwich but add bacon instead of turkey! Jesus Christ!" The woman yells.
You gritted your teeth a bit but wrote down her order as a ham and bacon sandwich.
" Anything else?" You ask.
" And a diet water." The woman says which makes your eye twitch.
" It's water... I don't think diet water even exists." You say.
" IT DOES EXIST AND THAT'S WHAT I WANT! NOW SHUT UP AND ADD IT TO MY ORDER!" The woman screams, making a few customers turn to look with startled expressions.
" Ma'am, please lower you voice." You say through your teeth.
" Don't tell me what to do! I'd like to speak to your manager!" The woman shrieks which causes several people to stand up and leave.
" Lady if you don't shut the hell up I'm calling the cops." A familiar voice says which makes you sigh in relief.
" Excuse me?!" The woman shrieks as she whipps around to face Joelee.
" You heard me. Now pay for your food and get the hell out. Nobody talks to my friend like that." Joelee snaps which made the woman narrow her eyes.
" Well, see if I ever come back here again!" The woman exclaimed before turning and leaving the deli, not bothering to pay for or collect her food.
" So I'm your friend, eh?" You smile.
" Of course." Joelee said as she returned your smile.
" I've never had an actual friend before..." You admit after a moment.
" Well now you do." Joelee said. She reached forward and gently squeezed your hand before leaning back.
A warm feeling made its way through you. You smiled at her.
" Now, can I get a turkey and ham sandwich without the ham?" She teased which made you both laugh.
Caitlyn.
Ever since the day you'd met, you'd go down and visit Caitlyn. She'd taught you all about emo culture, food, her friends and movies. Even some culture references like tubular and lit.
You didn't understand why she laughed when you said tubular though.
You were headed to the cell, it had been about two weeks since you'd met so this was part of your routine at this point.
As you approached the cell you heard her belting out the lyrics to a Panic! At The Disco song.
You couldn't quite place what it was called though.
You stood and listened to the song, how many things had changed for the poor singer? Apparently a lot.
" You like that song?" Caitlyn grinned at you as she finished the song.
