I woke up in a fit of terror. I was screaming for help and crying. I heard a bang on the door and Jordan came rushing in, "Austin! What's wrong? What happened?!" I looked up at him helpless and in tears. "Everything's okay now, I'm here..." He wrapped his arms around me, holding me close. It was still dark outside, I looked at the clock on my nightstand. I wasn't even asleep for an hour.
I was still shaking when Sarah came into the room. I tried to speak but it just came out as muffled whimpers. "Shh it's okay Andy.." Jordan said soothingly, he stroked my hair and kept me close. Sarah sat at the foot of my bed. We all stayed quiet for awhile until Sarah finally spoke. She was like a second mom to me, even though I've only known her for a few years. "Austin...you just had a traumatic experience, I'm sure you're fine now. It was just a night terror." Her voice sounded calm yet worried at the same time. It seemed like she was reassuring herself as well as me.
The next day it was downpouring. I went out to drive to clear my mind. Rain was beating against the windows and roof of the car. I turned on the radio to drown out all other sounds. I couldn't stay focused. I was feeling too many emotions, anger, hatred, sadness, all of it was too overwhelming. I was slipping in and out of sleep. dreams were dancing in the back of my mind. I wanted it all to stop. Everything passed as a blur I was out of city limits without even noticing. Zoning in and out, trying to stay focused. I blinked roughly and rubbed my eyes.
That's when I hit something, consciousness slipping from my grasp.
