Sophie stood at the cliff edge. She was so deep in thought that she didnt hear someone come up behind her. They placed a hand in her shoulder, making her jump. "Sophie, you're wanted back at the house," said a crisp, accented voice. "Okay," Sophie responded. "What's going on in that head of yours?" Fitz transmitted. "Nothing. Just thinking," she responded aloud. "Sophie, Calla chose to sacrifice herself for the good of everyone. It's not your fault." "Fitz. You don't understand. It is my fault. If I hadn't gone into King Dimitar's mind, we wouldn't be in this mess," Sophie said, on the verge of tears. "Sophie. You know we would all sacrifice ourselves for you or anyone. Right?" Fitz asked. "Exactly! I don't want people dying for me! I'm not worth it!" Sophie said, tears spilling down her cheeks. "Believe me, Sophie. You are more than worth it," Fitz said, pulling Sophie into his chest for a hug.
Fitz led her down the hill, once she had calmed down. Sophie walked into Havenfield and called, "Mom?" Edaline came running. "Yes, sweetie?" she asked, concerned. She looked to Fitz, who shook his head, saying 'Not now.' Edaline nodded and rubbed Sophie's back, soothing her. Sophie hugged Edaline and went up to her room. Fitz looked to Edaline, who nodded, giving him permission to follow her.
When Fitz walked into Sophie's room, it was a wreck. There were papers strewn everywhere, with books laying haphazardly on the floor. He, nimbly, made his way to the bed on the far wall, and sat down behind Sophie, who was crying. He rubbed her back and she whirled around a buried her face in his chest. He, gently, hugged her. "Sophie, please talk to me?" "Fitz, I am so scared. Everyone is relying on me to lead them through the war with the Neverseen and I can't. I'm only 14! I don't want people to suffer the consequences because of my descisions. I-I couldn't live with myself if someone else died for me. I'm not worth dying for." "Sophie. Look at me," Fitz said, tilting her chin up and wiping away her tears with gentle fingers. "You are always worth dying for."
Sorry it was short but I thought it would be a good note to end on. Please leave constructive criticism. I would love to hear suggestions and thoughts on what you think is going to happen. Sorry if I don't update super often, but believe me when I do, it will be worth the wait.
