- Still at the cafe -
We stared into each other's eyes. I could sense the strong connection between us, I was hoping he could too.
I felt nervous after telling him a basic outline of my life's story. I wasn't sure how he would react.
"And yet you seem so simple." He responded.
I was so focused on his opulent presence that I missed his response.
"What do you mean?" I inquired.
"It's nothing, it's just that you seem so perfect. The type of person that has lived a perfect life. You have such a cheery aura, that I feel sorry you had to go through all that. I'm sure it has never been easy, but to see how strong you are is quite inspiring. I almost feel bad about not knowing that this is what lay beneath your beautiful appearance."
I quivered. Did he really call me beautiful?
"Oh, thanks, but I'm not seeking sympathy of any kind. I just hope that I don't have to move around as often now that I'm older, and can fend for myself."
"Well, if you ever need anything, or anyone. I'm here for you."
His response warmed my heart. This really was the beginning of a new friendship.

"So tell me about yourself Namjoon" I asked.
"Hmm... well I was born and raised here in Ilsan. Nothing too complicated." Then he paused, he looked away with a serious gaze.
"Life was good. Until the time came to choose between a degree at university or what I was truly passionate about. And well... I went with my heart instead of my brain. I chose to be a music producer and ended up working for a small entertainment company. When my parents found out that I had rejected all my uni offers to work for this company they detested me. They refused to support me and kicked me out of the house. I had to learn to live by myself. Luckily my boss let me stay with him until I was able to afford to rent somewhere. It was hard at first, but I learnt a lot. It took me a while to really become good at producing tracks and writing songs for artists. I would send them my track and they would decide whether they liked it and how much they think it's worth. Some weeks I wouldn't earn anything, but some weeks I would earn thousands. Slowly I became more competent, and I started to love the decision I made. I produced songs for many Kpop artists, but one day I hope to expand my horizons and send some of my work overseas."

"Wow! And here I was thinking my life was exciting." I chuckled.
"So I guess things haven't always been good with your parents too. Have you seen them recently?" I asked.
"Well I saw them a few times last year, and I saw them again on Christmas this year. But other than the rare occasion we don't see each other often. I mean sometimes we call and text each other. But deep inside I know they're truly mad about the decision I made to pursue my dreams"
"Hmh, well then I guess if YOU ever need anyone or anything, I'll be here for you too" I said.
We both laughed. Exchanged numbers, then finished our coffee and decided it was time to head home.
"Thank you Nahyun for coming. I really enjoyed myself, and I hope we see more of each other in the future."
"Me too Namjoon! I had a great time with you. Looking forward to catching up again" I smiled.
We both hugged each other and the warmth of his clothes on mine was calming and reassuring. I wanted the hug to last forever. Unfortunately it couldn't. We both gazed at each other one last time before we finally parted ways and headed home.
For once in a long time I actually felt really good about myself. It was a refreshing feeling and I wanted it to last forever.
