SUMMARY

Calantha Aza lost half of her family because of the bigoted people of Atlantis. Of course not everyone shared the same feelings, but enough people did; enough people to want her family line wiped from existence. They felt that people who weren't highborns had no right to be able to walk the surface. It didn't even matter to them that only a select few of the Atlantean side of her family could actually walk the surface.

Their reasoning was that her family carried the gene, so none of them were safe.

Calantha had never lived in Atlantis, she was born on the surface to a human mother and outcasted father. Cal was never one to shy away from either of her cultures, and embraced the powers that came with being an Atlantean.

When her father was killed, she was forced to move to a place called Maine where her father's friend lived. Here she met someone who she later came to love, despite his many problems. They bonded over their misgivings, but he was a hard person to understand. Even after knowing him for so long, sometimes she wondered if she knew him at all. He constantly pushed her away but always expected her to be there in the morning. And she always was. Always. That is until her job pulled her away from the island, and although she wanted to go, she would stay for him. Yet, he doesn't stop her from leaving. So she went and he stayed. Still, she just had to push her luck and check up on him.
